change oil filter

i am running mobil 1 synth and i know that i can run it 6000 and still be safe... BUT i know that oil filter will not make it past 3000...

How do you change the filter without changing the oil? wont it poor out when i pull out the filter?

Yes it will. if you change the filter, change the oil, or do wait till you are ready to change the oil with the filter.

The filter is mounted to the engine block and it can be changed without losing much oil. You will only lose what's held in the filter...the rest will remain in the sump. After changing the filter, you will only need to "top it off".

I understand your logic in changing the filter every 3K, but it might be more convenient to use a quality filter (one with high efficiency and capacity) and change it when you change your oil. I've been using synthetics for >20 years and change the filter only when I change the oil.
