Valvoline Durablend 5w30. Do you guys I can switch to a full synthetic now at 75k miles? I switched to the part-synthetic at less than 60k.
Thanks,
-Cyrus

I would always use an original Nissan oil filter. The factory oil filter is very good. I've read twos article a while ago showing that FRAM filters are cheaply built (cardboard) ends etc.

One of the articles is here: FRAM Filter Tests

You're free to use what you please. Just thought you might want to know about this body of knowledge out there.

castrol full synthetic 5w40 euro car oil....used to run syntech but ... I have a half a qt left after every TDI oil change (I'm a VW tech) so I net a free qt of synthetic every other TDI oil change
and the oil meets all requirements for MB/VW/Porsche/BMW gas eng .....should be A-OK for Nissan

I been using bmw 5w-30 synthetic because my friend work bmw service, so I get for really cheap. I woundering is it safe. it don't have a mark for API certification but, the API SAE service grade is SJ 5W-30, energy 1.

5 W weight oil is a little thinner, meaning it flows better when cold, other than that it works same as 10 W

5-30 is thinner oil with more synthetic stuff added. theoretically, it loses viscosity earlier due to shear.

I use 10-30 dino oil. V or Q or P or M on the bottle, doesn't matter.

I went from mobil 1 ss 5w/30 with nissan filter to castrol full synthetic 10w/30 with toyota filter. This was best decision made for my car. The ticking has pretty much disappeared on my max and I've noticed that the oil is more honey color.

Definitely recommended for the ticking in your car.
