Could someone kindly confirm (link?) that the automatics are at the correct level when the fluid reaches the lip of the fill hole? I have seen the thread but cannot find it now.....

I am going to drain and fill my AT without dropping the pan. Roughly how many quarts will this take per drain & fill?

 

I think (don't hold me to it) we put 3 quarts and some other stuff in there. I'm not sure. Check the fluids and lubircants forum

Whoa, you are all worng.

There is no fill hole on automatic transmissions.. You fill it through the dipstick.

The overall capacity is about 10 quarts.

A drain and fill will only remove about 4 - 5 quarts.

i used about 4 after drain and refill.

 

Depends on how long you let the fluid drips, a drain and fill takes about 4 (drain 5 minutes) to 5 (30 minutes) quarts. You can measure and put in the same amount taken out. The owner manual has pictures to show how to read the dip stick when hot and cold.
