Best ATF

What is the best ATF to use? I have a GXE with 62,250 miles and have yet to flush the tranny, I was hoping to do it next week, but im stuck on what type of fluid to get. I was leaning more towards Pennzoil or Mobil 1 synthetics. Any advice is appreciated, thanx.

Mobil 1, Redline, or Amsoil

Redline and Amsoil are better then Mobil 1 from what i have read.
You will need 12Q to do a full flush

For the money and easy to find, Mobil 1. There is no proof that Amsoil is better or worst. I have used M1 ATF in the cold winters of Minnesota to the heat of the Arizona desert towing a trailer on my Isuzu Rodeo and it has performed like a champ. Now, if you want to spend more, then go with Amsoil. Proof, gentlemen, proof. Just my two cents.

Use Mobil 1 if you don't want to spend so much money but Redline and Amsoil are the better choice with a slightly higher price. Synthetic is the way to go.

Have you seen Amsoil TF after 60k miles? Clean like new. Have you seen competitors TF? Dark color.

For 92 bucks for 12 quarts it better freakin be solid gold.... I still want the Amsoil, even though the price is crazy.

And how come it only costs 60 bucks to have a full flush done at a shop with the regular stuff? Maybe I'll just have them upgrade my fluid to Mobil 1 and call it a day.

I have to admit, I have never seen so many people hung up on synthetics than on this website. Please don't take offense, but......

Another route is use OEM Nissan fluid and change it every 30k. You will not have a problem. I have not researched using synthetics in my Max, but I know that some transmissions are finicky to using anything other than the OEM fluid.

I am in outside sales and average 100 to 150 miles per day; typically use up a car to 200-300k and sell it. I have used synthetic lubricants before but not my daily drivers. I always use the factory fluid and never synthetics and never had a transmission failure, even when I had a POS Taurus with 220k (original trans with standard fluid changed every 30k). I think that synthetic trans fluid is a waste of money in a daily driver. Just my .02

I don't think it's hung up on synthetics, I think it's more that people don't like to waste their time and money using regular fluids. Amsoil ATF should be good for 90k. You would have to take change your fluid 3 times costing you between $200-$300 at the dealership, compared to $100-$130 with Amsoil. I make $38 an hour based on my salary. Add that to mix and you've wasted quite a few dollars. I prefer to have that extra money in my pocket. Is that an acceptable answer?

You are the perfect candidate for extended drains on motor oil and ATF. The Amsoil ATF will easily go 60,000 miles. The Amsoil SK2 0w-30 will easily go 15,000 miles.

I don't sell the stuff; just a satisfied customer.

Just my .02.

I only use the Dealer ATF fluid.
Yet it is very pricy , i belive i did the quick change using only 4 quarts and spent like 3X.00 for those 4 quarts so im guessin like 120.00 for a full flush.

Id be reluctant to switch to a completely new fluid w 150k on the old tranny like mine. matter of perference though i think.

Personally, I agree with your thought process with such high mileage.

WOW!!! That much for ATF to buy? I can't imagine they charge a lot for a quart.
