What do u guys recomend for transmission oil?

How to change manual transmission fluid? Which fluid: GL-4 or GL-5? Best gear oil?
With Amsoil Series 2000 no longer available, it looks like Redline MT-90 is the recommended gear oil.

looks like Amsoil Series 2000 has been replaced with Amsoil SAE 80W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube
seems to meet the same requirements: http://www.amsoil.com/products/agl.htm

It's still in the Amsoil on line catalog

...most recent edition of the AMSOIL newsletter explains that Severe Gear will replace the Series 2000, and that the Series 2000 oil would be sold until the existing stock is exhausted.
AMSOIL AGT is still available, which is apparently what many orgers use. It's an 80W-90 GL-4 gear oil. It's only available in gallons, so two gallons will be needed.
Another option is ALU, which is "Marine lower unit gear lube" but it's an 80W-90 GL-4 rated lube that can also be used in automotive applications specifying a GL-4 oil.
I'm not sure why AGR and AGL wouldn't work also. Both are rated "GL-2 through GL-5".
Sheesh, I just want some gear oil. It shouldn't be this complicated.

...both AGR and AGL are/were rated GL-2 thru GL-5. Previously they could have been used in your transaxle. AGR...is being replaced by FGR (newly introduced "long-life" 75w-90) and FGR is a GL-5 oil (not recommended for your application). AGL has been reformulated effective 1 Oct and has changed to a straight GL-5.
I could have this wrong though, so corrections are appreciated.

AMSOIL has changed their line of gear oils effective 1 Oct. While remaining stocks of the previous formulations will be sold, the Series 2000 Gear oil will be replaced with a new formulation called "Severe Gear"...that product is GL-5 rated. The previous AGR (75w-90) has been replaced with a new "Long Life" line of lubes, and that too is GL-5 rated. AGL (80w-90) has also been reformulated and it too is now a GL-5 oil. To the best of my knowledge, AGT and ALU are the only GL-4 rated oils remaining.

It would seem, from reading the product info on AMSOIL's web site (www.amsoil.com), that AGT and ALU are the same product. ALU is available only in 8 oz. tubes and quarts, AGT is available only in 1 gallon bottles, 5 gallon pails, and 55 gallon drums. In various places on the web site, they refer to AGT/ALU.
If this is true, then a gallon of AGT plus a quart of ALU would be the cheapest way to go.
talkinghorse, can you confirm whether AGT and ALU are the exact same thing?

S15 SR20DET: If I were you, I will wait till the end of the year for DexronIII(H) to come out. The licenses for the major ATF producers expires for the GM DexronIII(G) spec that you see OTC today and the ATF meeting this new spec will greatly reduce shear, oxidation, reduce shudder etc, etc.
It is expected to be be carried by many shops early next year.
