Don't bother . . . . only thickens the oil.
Bad side is it could block some oil passages starving the engine of it precious commodity.

It also leaves a silicon-like filler behind. Unless you want to kill your VQ, dont use this stuff.

The Car Talk guys recommend it and it works. I've used it on a few cars that burned and leaked a little oil and it works. It's not the best answer but for those of us who can't afford to replace seals and such, it's a decent product. As always, your results may vary. Bring on the pro and con comments.

By the way, if you don't like the product, please give us an alternative. Share your years of wisdom - constructive criticism works best. thx

Those guys know very little to nothing about the nissan V6. If you want to pour CSL into your VQ, go ahead. But when the problems begin, dont look for any help here.

The classic difference of opinion. They may not know the specifics of Nissan engines, I'm not sure. But, I'll put money down they know more than most of the people on this org, including you. Let's see, they have a nationally syndicated show and have a pretty good reputation, why would they endorse a product that could ruin our precious engines?

By the way, why is the VQ so different from all the other internal combustion engines out there?

1) No, not including me

2) Anyone who has ever worked on a VQ knows that the tolerances are VERY tight. This also applies to the oil passageways. Putting the CSL compound into your oil is sure to clog them right up.

3) Unless you have at least 250k+ on your engine, you shouldnt even be thinking of stuff like this (that is, unless, you drive a domestic)

1) Not sure what you are referring to.

2) You make sense. Thanks for the info.

3) Again, you make sense. Restore is really marketed toward those with high mile engines, especially, domestics. I wouldn't expect many folks on the org to need it or even consider it.
