For those of you who use Mobil 1 10w30, how often do you change your oil? I was thinking I could go longer than the standard 3000 miles.

I still change it from 3000-4000 because I like to drive hard at times.

This thread will probably get moved to the Fuels and Lubricants forum. There's lots of good info there.

I use Mobil 1 5-30 and change every 5000 miles. I use the Mobil 1 filter, too. (the oversized one)

I'm thiinking about switching from dino to Mobil1 and use the Nissan OEM filter. However, I'm a low-mileage, mostly highway use, (non-daily) driver. Would a 5,000 mile 12-month oil-change interval be too long?

#k for first time on synthetic, then 5k for the rest. i use M1 5w-30. Speaking of that new Q stuff i think i may get a quart and use it as deoderant, its heat activated like degree deoderant and it would be more cost effective to use than degree deoderant. Seriously though most wear occurs at cold start and this stuff clamis to be heat activated so im not sure if i trust it

Ditto. Although I think I changed it before 5000 miles, but definately after 3000. It is worth the money.

Tests prove that syn is better in any age car (within reason) and it doesn't matter when you switch. check out bobistheoilguy.com for more info than you'll ever need.

I use M1 0w-40.

Just switched recently to 5w30 at around 80K miles. Starts and runs a smoother. Engine seems to want to rev a lot easier too. Maybe a very slight improvement in gas mileage.

I use Amsoil 10w-30 and an Amsoil filter. I have put synthetic in from day one. Back in the mid 1990s I switched my wifes Plymouth minivan over to fully synthetic from dino oil at about 85,000 miles. Nothing bad happened...no leaks, runs, drips, etc. It ran well and got better gas mileage.

AMSOil 5W-30, M1 Filter, 5000 OCI.

Max has been on Syn since 1500 miles, its at 42K now...but it sits a lot in the garage now.

Well, you can run at least 15k miles on either M1 or Amsoil before changing oil. Let's say you change the filter 2 times during that interval. Seems like a huge waste in money to use dino oil.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the M1 oils. I may do the same.
