You seem to be a rich kid -- if you don't know what to do with the extra bucks, pl. make a donation to Red Cross or a charity... Honestly, who told you to do oil changes on syn every 3000 miles!!

I do 5000 mile OCI on a dino and my oil report was excellent. I may even go for the 7500 mile change this time around (most of my miles on the highways).

You can easily take syn fluids to atleast 7500 miles. Do a oil analysis be extending the oil change to 7500 miles and if the report comes out good -- stick with that.

4000 miles on a syn is a real over kill!!!

Never done an oil test, but after 3000 miles have you seen what the oil looks like? Use Mobil 1 also and Factory Nissan oil filters and the oil is..... I'll just call it dark at 3000 miles. I cannot understand why they use such a TINY oil filter in these engines. Have switched between 5/30 and 10/30 no problems.

I only use Mobil 1 Oil and Nissan Oil Filters changed every 2500-3000 miles depending on time I have...I only change it soo often because of the blower. Next change Ill be changing over to Mobil Filter as well.

I switch from 10W in the summer to 5W for the winter...there are a few cold mornings here in NJ so thats where 5W comes in handy

Only Mobil Gas as well !!

7500 Miles !!! These guys doing there oil every 7500 miles, thats like 6 months !! Forget that

Oil color is NOT an indication of the health of the oil. Don't expect the color to be honey-like when the oil is exposed to carbon exhaust and black soot...

Do a UOA (Used Oil Analysis) with AAA labs and determine to what extend you can take the fluid. But by any yard stick 3K-4K on syn is a joke giving a big laugh!!!

I change my synthetic out every 3500 miles...Mobil1 10w-30 with Nissan 9e000 filter...I would extend my drain intervals to about 7k or above...but I drive LOTS and LOTS of city...with some high speed pulls here and there...most of my trips are less than 4 miles apart too....I'm pretty sure my oil is working overtime cuz of my driving type....so that is the reason why I change mine out every 3500....

btw I have 12 liters of Torco SR-1 5w-30 100% synthetic oil sitting in my garage...I won it thru a raffle....anybody know if this motor oil is any good for the Max?

Just because oil gets darker in color doesn't mean you need oil change. It means your oil is doing what it's suppose to do.

Get your oil analysed. My Amsoil can be used over 10K+ miles with few filter changes inbetween

Yea hes right, his amsoil with 3000 OCI's will have more wear but less varnish (niether will have sludge) than mine will have at about 650,000 miles...........

Zack, where did you get your mobil1 from?

I use to get mine real cheap from a local who slangs mobil1...he use to get me 6 quarts for $10 out the door....I couldn't get 5w-30 though....he usually sells out of 5w-30 before any other grade...so the closest was 10w-30 so I went ahead and bought that....still worked wonders even though the owners manual recommends 5w-30

i use amsoil w/ amsoil filters + k&N.

i go about 5k or so on my maxima w/ syn. i ALWAYS change the filter and oil regardless. to go 10k or whatever on a filter or to just change the filter seems like a waste to me. its not like the price will matter that much, drink less beer :P. change oil and the filter together.
i do lots of city driving, and work near an industrial area w/ dust and all that. even my air filter. i change much frequently. i get leaves, feathers. big thick dust in there..

go with what u feel is best.
