Switch to synthetic 0W30 oil
Well the AutoRX and a new Nissan OEM oil filter are in place. I bought 2 oil filters at the stealership that banned me and went to Mr. Lube who installed the oil filter for nothing. The stealer threw in 2 washers as well. Does an OEM filter typically come with a drain washer - I suspect not?
Some dealers give them to you some dont....
Good luck with the RX, keep us posted, i like the RX ideas as well. As for the exhaust pipe carbon, I dont think RX will do anything for that, FP will though
Cheers

I picked up my 12 litre case of Esso XD-3 today. I won't start to use it until the AutoRX clean and rinse is complete in about 3,400 miles, which will likely be 5 or 6 months the way I'm going.
There was a small display on the counter at the bulk dealership - about 7 vials of oil with a metal ball at the bottom of each vial. If you turn the display upside down it is supposed to show the relative flow rates of the various oils at -20 Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit. It is amazing how much faster the metallic ball in the 0W30 vial fell to the bottom of the vial (about 3 inches high by 1/2 inch in diameter) relative to the 5W30 ball. There were about 5 other weights with 20W50 being the heaviest and a tortoise in comparison to the 0W30 flow.

Members of BITOG are stockpiling cases of German Castrol like they're hunkering down for a war. I thought I read somewhere like a 10 year shelf life, but who knows. I may just have to take a few road trips and I've got one planned for a week from now, which is about 600 or 700 miles round trip. I want to get the AutoRX 1,500 mile clean phase over with and the old oil out of my car.
A fellow BITOGER from Saskatchewan, in responding to a thread on BITOG, advised me that he runs his Esso XD-3 OW-30 year round with excellent UOAs. He said I should be able to see 15,000 km (9,300 miles) OCIs. I won't go that long but am inclined to try for a 12-month OCI which would equate to 5 or 6K miles the way I'm going.
