Bigger oil filters

I believe all of the recommended oil filters for the VQ30 are of the small diameter variety (and some are the short kind as well). are there any large diameter or large capacity filters that fit our engines?

from my recent research, it seems that a larger filter will increase flow and help prevent the bypass valve from opening. I'm also planning an Auto-RX cycle and want the biggest filter possible to catch all the crud.

It's all in the sticky on the top of the forum. There are quite a few. Keep in mind that nobody knows what the psi of the bypass valve is rated at with the bigger filters. Amsoil is 2 or 3 psi more on the oversized filter than the one they recommend.

The stock filter is the exact same filter that is used on a Honda CBR600.

update: I've been doing a bit of research on this, and here's what I've found so far. this applies to 4th gen VQ30s only.

the following "oversize" filters also fit the VQ30:
- M1 104
- Wix 51334 and comparable Napa Gold 1334
- STP 2808
- Autozone Valuecraft 2808 (same size as M104, STP, and Wix. fittment verified by putting it on my car).

these are "oversize" in the sense that they have a larger diameter than OEM, however, they are a bit shorter.

the question at this point is - do they actually have a larger filter media? soon to be verified when I cut open the 2808 and an OEM 9E000 and compare.

NOTE: the M104, STP, and AZ 2808 all appear to be the exact same filter. IN FACT - I also looked at the M105 (larger OD than M104) and out of 6 filters on the shelf, 4 of them had STP 3950s in the box!! now you might say someone switched them to get an M105 at the STP price - BUT, when I looked at the filters in the STP3950 boxes they were slightly different (the M105 and "M1-STP3950" were much heavier than the 3950s in the STP boxes - and, the M105 and "M1 STP3950" appeared to be exactly the same, with the same thread end BPV, while the "real" STP3950 had a closed end BPV). this makes me believe that these M105 boxes were in fact shipped with STP filters in them - if someone just switched them at the store the 2 STPs would be the same, but they are not!

I bought both the real STP3950 (which will be free after rebate) and the "M1 STP3950" (but of course didn't pay the M1 price - just the $2.89 STP price) - I'll be cutting them both open soon and will post pictures soon...
