Safe to switch back to conventional from synthetic for Auto-RX?

At 75,000 miles, I switched from conventional oil to synthetic and that's all I've run until today (101,000 miles). I want to do an Auto-RX treatment but I'd have to switch back to conventional for 3,000 miles...is that safe to do?

just follow the directions on the arx site. you're fine using the synthetic for the rinse phase, just remember to install a new oil filter though. You will need a conventional oil for the rinse phase though.

btw,I'm just about done the rinse on my pathfinder (I used gtx 5/30)

Did you mean he's fine using synthetic for the CLEAN phase and he should use conventional on the RINSE phase?

iIt sounds to me as though he is going to do two trials since he is over 100K.

Given that he ran synthetic oil from 75K to 101K, I question the need to do two trials.

If you are doing one trial it is ok to run synthetic oil on the clean phase if there is at least that much room left on the OCI. Change the filter and run for 1,500 miles. Switch to dino (change the filter) and run for 2,000 miles.

However, if you are going to run two applications use dino for the first rinse phase and the subsequent clean and rinse phases.

Do not worry about using the dino oil in either case. Castrol GTX 5w30 and a good quality filter (OEM, Purolator PureOne, WIX, Mobil 1, K&N) to capture any particles/crud that is flushed out should do the the job.

When it doubt visit www.auto-rx.com and www.bobistheoilguy.com (Additives forum).
