octane booster
octane booster
So after reading the mannual It says the max likes higer octane (91) I just filled up with 87
....so would It do any harm to put in some octane booster? When i start the car in the morning sometimes the engine sputters and wants to stall unless I give it gas....So I'm thinking it sthe gas....unless you guys think its something different?

water in the gas or bad fuel or clogged injectors or bad coil pack or bad plug or...
shall I go on?
Octain boost will fix the low fuel issue, but the only problem you should see is knocking, not stutterin to my knowlege. You have something else going on as well.

Isopropyl > iso-propal. (IPA)
IPA =/ ethanol

I run regular in my Max all the time and have no problems -- even run 85 octane here at 6 K feet elevation. In my 04 owners manual it says that regular gasoline is OK to run in the 10.3 to 1 compression ration VQ engine. Given that your VQ is only 10.0 to 1 -- this should also hold for your VQ.
If you frequently race and or call for WOT, you should run only premium gasoline in your VQ. Otherwise regular is fine and appears to give slightly better gasoline mileage when cruising (not stop and go) on the interstates.
The fuel filter could be the problem. But this filter will be more of a problem if you call for WOT (wide open throttle). If the filter is the problem, the engine will sputter and not run right because the filter is starving the engine for fuel. Try it and see what happens.
