Spilled oil...cleanup recommendations??
Sorry if it's the wrong location, but it was either here or O/T. I was carrying my used oil to autozone, didn't seal the container tight enough and spilled some in the back. The trunk mat soaked it up like a sponge (kinda), but I obviously can't put anything in that spot or it'll turn brown (my laptop case did this, as did a few notebooks). Ideas on how to get it out? Powerwash at the carwash? Kitty litter? Thanks.

I'm assuming you have used paper towels to absorb all of the oil that will come off on them.
If the trunk mat is easily removed from your Max, just throw it in the washing machine (by itself) and wash it with a good detergent. That will take out all of the oil that would transfer to an object placed on top of the mat.
If the mat is hard to remove, you have a number of options. Here is the one I like best. I've had the best results getting motor oil off of concrete using the paste hand cleaner that is sold in auto stores. Spread the hand cleaner on the concrete, rub it in, let it sit for about 5 minutes and then rinse it off with a hose. I would expect that you could modify this for your trunk mat, using either wet cloth rags or wet paper towels (they tend to fall apart) to remove the cleaner and the oil it removes from the mat.
This hand cleaner works best when the surface you are cleaning is not wet from water. Spread the cleaner fairly liberally on the spots on the mat where there is oil You may have to repeat this cleaning application 2 or 3 times to get the worst of the oil out of your mat. If that is the case, I recommend that you let the mat dry before trying the next application. Remember, the hand cleaner works best on dry surfaces (hand, concrete, or mat).
Hope this works for you. Others on this site may have other ideas -- that could work better than mine.

you can start with a degreasing detergent like dishsoap and laundry detergent with a stiff brush.
If that doesn't get the worst of the stain out, you can pour some paint thinner on it. scrub with a stiff brush and let it soak into the concrete for a few minutes. scrub again, and then wash away with strong water hose spray. it's not the most environmentally friendly way to clean it, but I've removed BLACK oil stains off my drive with it.

Regarding the trunk mat, what was the outcome?
Someone (at a dealership) tried pressure washing one of my mats and ruined it. The upholstery can't take that. This may seem nuts, but's worked for me so I'll throw it out there; Regardless of the outcome with your trunk mat, flip it upside down. The bottom side it rubberized, so the fluid puddles in the mat's lip. I flipped mine upside down the day I bought the car, and I haven't regretted it yet.
Regarding concrete; cat litter. Let it set overnight and sweep away the next day. A little bit of aggitation doesn't hurt.....
Good luck,
Swee
