i was looking around for a cpl weeks now, saw a nice deal on a 2-1/2 Ton Craftsman for 66$ ...would you guys take a chance on that?

I also found a 2 Ton GoodYear at pep-cough-crap-boys for $20 that price is so tempting but... you get what you pay for so I am not sure on quality of that one.

next I just need some pavement

I think i might go with that one, the one I have been using (stepdad's) is craftsman and I have had no problems over the years (7).

i am currently looking for a decent heavy duty jack. Using about once a month average, just for my personal repairs and maintenance. Any updated recommendations or heads up on a sale going on right now. Figuring a 2.5 - 3 ton should be sufficient.

I recently bought a Harbor freight all aluminum racing jack cause it's light as hell and doesn't penalize my Ford ZX2's performance being in the trunk...easy to handle but isn't a full size frame jack, can only lift 1.5 tons @ 14.5 " max. This jack has the large single roller which doesn't move that well when raising a vehicle. Jacks do roll as they lift and to much rolling resistance make this little jack feel like it's gonna blow it's nuts out!!! Maybe I should've got a 4 wheeled racing jack instead of this 3 wheeled baby jack....It was only for workin on small projects and helping people with flats stuck on the road....So you guys/gals might wanna take that into consideration when shopping for lightweight aluminum "wanna Be" racing jacks!

 

Saw that one too when i picked up my 3 ton low pro from them. Price was good and looked tempting but i figured i would probably need a more universal jack for other vehicles besides just my car. Good thing i passed on it....albeit for a little squeaking going up, the 3 ton works like a champ!

 

Yeah surprising that little jack is still jacking it up....I keep a 4 x 4 block available so I can get up a little higher...the jack stands I use are a little shorter so it makes jacking things up a little easier...It's lifted full size trucks, cars, vans, etc...and is easy as hell to toss around....

 

IMHO you cannot beat the Arcan 3.5 ton at Costco if they still have it. I've had mine for 12+ years now and it's still going strong. It's really quick to release but I've gotten used to it. I also have a Napa 3.5 ton jack but it cost 4x as much. I would recommend the Arcon 3.5 to anyone for house garage use.
