Sorry, i didn't want to read through the 13 pages..

Are they sealed if its without carpet? The trunk carpet will bit sitting on top anyways right? I just don't want to get it and have the MDF start dry rotting or if it got wet it would become soggy

^^PM responded.

For everyone else, no these are not water treated/protected/sealed. They hover on top of the spare tire, so if you do have water in your trunk, the water will be at the bottom of the spare tire well, which will not affect the board.

The only way it would get wet/damaged is if something spills and it seeps through your trunk carpet.

The one with Maxima embroidered? It's a dealer part, I think it was about $45. Though I don't think they carry it anymore.

Ooh, the old school bolt. It would probably work, just not as well. The thread pattern is likely the same, I would definitely try to find the larger white hold down bolt at a junkyard or something. It would better utilize my design.

Let's compare some basic things. How long is yours? hehehe! And how wide is the hole in your cover where the bolt goes through? Why would the thread pattern matter? Does is thread through your cover or just feed through it and is held down by the white part? As you can see in the pic mine has a metal ring instead of the white part and it's probably a smaller diameter.

Length wouldn't matter, they both work the same way. The hole in my recessed box is just large enough for the screw shaft portion to pass through.

It doesn't thread through my board, but I mentioned the thread pattern because it still has to thread into the mount in the car.

The diameter of your smaller ring is the main consideration - less surface area than the white one, which is what holds the board down. In the end, I think you would still be fine. So buy one

Unfortunately, no. The full size spare nearly reaches the regular height of the trunk floor anyway, correct? If we add anything on top, you'll not only not have a DIP in your trunk, you'd have a lump!

You're welcome to take a couple measurements though, if the height does not reach the top. Maybe I can make a shallow box.

Let me know-

Bump.

PM me with details, I'd like to order one. This is the best answer to this problem I've seen, wish I'd bought one for my previous 4th gen.

Hey,

Glad you like my idea. Wish you had bought one for your 4th gen too

PM me for latest pricing.

Prices include shipping.

Just send funds and make sure your confirmed shipping address is correct. Don't need to do anything else to make an order.

If I get payment tonight, I can ship it out tomorrow for you. Otherwise, it will have to go out on Monday.
