The uncarpeted ones will be shipped prior to the carpeted ones.

I very strongly suggest creating a shelf like I have in my first picture. This board, although is much stronger than the previous OEM fiberboard, is only mounted with the one spare tire screw mount. That's a lot of surface area to be balanced by just that one screw in the middle.

Imagine flipping an orange construction cone upside down and balancing it on its pivot, then trying to have the square base hold up a heavy box. Although this is an extreme example, it's kind of the same principle.

My board works GREAT for groceries , but I dont want to see the recessed mounting box pop off under constant heavy pressure from a subwoofer box.

Get some! These things are in continuous production, ship time to get one to you would be short!

Doesn't the side edge touch the sheet metal of the spare tire depression? I thought this was kind of a "snug fit" item. I'd think it would need to touch on the sides, or else it would move back and forth when you make turns. =)

It barely touches the sides to keep it flush, but not enough for support. It won't roll on turns because you use the spare tire screw through the middle of the recessed box to mount it, like so:

how would one of these hold up to drum hardware? i think total weight is around 90 pounds of equipment spread throughout the trunk.

Another update.

I am terribly sorry for the delay. All the boards are fully assembled and ready to go...only thing that's missing is the carpet. It's taking me a little bit longer than expected to acquire the carpet, please bear with me. I guarantee that once I get the carpet, they will ALL be shipped immediately following that.

Thank you all for your patience. For those that should be receiving theirs this week, I hope you are pleased and enjoy them

If anyone has questions, please feel free to PM me or post here.

And A+ to all of you for being patient! I ordered an entire roll this time, so I will not be running out again. And all future orders can be shipped out with a VERY short turnaround time!

I got my spare tire cover in today, it looks very nice but there is a problem. If you put anything heavy on the outter edge of the board- it breaks off the center piece- one that holds to the spare tire. I improved the design by putting an extra 12 screws in the center- where the spare NUT is, now the board is much sturdier than before, with only 4 screws. If that doesn't work then I will remedy with some HARDWOOD and make the center piece out of it- screwing into MDF is never a good solution when it comes to holding stuff togheter.

Just a lil FYI. Otherwise its great !

Interesting Mike. Do you think you could shoot a couple pictures of your fix?

If there is a flaw in the design and the fix is simple, I'd be more than willing to modify the next batch before they go out.

Thanks!

All I did was put more screws in the top- 3 per each side, 12 totall. I would venture to say that if you used some OAK or any other HARDWOOD on that center piece (aint much wood being used there anyways) that problem would be remedied. I will be boxing in that little MDF box in the center with some OAK and then putting screws through it and the MDF from the sides and then the top to hold even better.

All one has to do is lean on the edge of the spare tire cover too hard and the center just breaks off- MDF doesn't hold screws to well.

I get what you're saying. I'll be adding more screws to the mounting area for the box to the board. I'll also price out Oak or other hard woods for this purpose. Maybe there is a design modification for the next set of boards to go out in the future

Again, thanks for your opinions and suggestions. I truly do appreciate them.

Carpet is in!
The 4 people patiently awaiting their carpeted boards will have a tracking number Monday after work when I drop them off at the UPS Store.

I've got about 4-7 boards that are not spoken for, so if I receive a paypal or a request for local pickup, turnaround time is IMMEDIATE.

Thanks all!

No problem, sir.

The remaining 4 are to be shipped out tomorrow after work. Will provide tracking numbers tomorrow evening.

All others are ready for pickup, shoot me a PM if interested.

Again, I've got extra (carpeted and non) so if you're interested I can ship out within 24 hours.

I went to the beach this weekend and piled my trunk full of beach stuff, including a big cooler full of ice and drinks. The board held up very well . I did put in a few more screws on the bottom to be safe before going to the beach.

I still have my old one and I noticed that it has some pieces of foam glued to it. I am going to tranfer this over to the board.

I am happy with it .

Awesome

The ones going out (and from now one) will have 8 screws holding the recessed box to the board.
