Don's VB Mod
Ok so i'm getting it for 350 total from a friend including a oem swap. I'm getting either a local guy to do it for 80 bucks + price of fluid/ gasket etc, or a shop who will do it for 150 total, and will throw a tranny cooler on. I just want y'alls opinion on if this is a good deal? I'm planning on boosting pretty soon here so do you guys think this is good enough to run one pulley size smaller without blowing the tranny?
I believe a tranny cooler is about 40bux, and is easy to install. That would be a difference of about 30. Im not knowledgeable of sc, im poor! But I know for autos a tranny cooler is a must and many ppl reccomend a VB mod. Just my .02 hopes it helps

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do this now. If you look at the thread in the dealership/shop experience forum, a few people have had some trouble getting their VB from Don. I have the VB mod and I guess the mod is "ok". Shifts are faster, no problem with the VB itself. However, lags are definitely still there. I would recommend the VB if you plan to get nitrous or a SC to protect the tranny. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend it.

I do agree that it is a must for boosting/N2O, but I would suspect that it does have some advantages for modded N/A cars as well. If you are planning on boosting in any way, both the VB and tranny cooler upgrades are very good ideas.

Install if yourself. There are directions on Don's site and plenty of people have installed it on themselves on the Org, so you can ask if you hit a snag.
Then get a tranny cooler and install that yourself too. Again, plenty of people have installed tranny coolers by themselves on the Org.

If you're handy with tools then you can do it! I did it in 4 hours time using Don's Mobiletek instructions. You just have to be prepared ahead of time how you're going to label and store the bolts temporarily while taking out the vb. I did it by enlarging that bolt pattern pic and making a copy for each size of bolt. Then I just color-coded and circled the bolts in the pic so I know where each of them should go.
