You can see my intake set up in my signature pic. I know the CAI comes with the piece I've circled in this picture here --->

<img src="http://www.geocities.com/marsconbailbonds/pipe.jpg">

I wonder how and/or who I could order just that piece from, because I'm sure the piece that it replaces is obviously restrictive. I'd like to add just that one section to my existing setup and you can get the rubber connectors at any hardware store. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you,

Sean

Sean that is exactly how i have my "ghetto rigged" intake setup. When i put the PR intake system in it was just too lound for me. So i took it all off except for the piece that connect to the tb. The result is awesome IMHO. Since it's a resonator your replacing the intake is a little deeper. You know when your flooring it! Ill send you pics if you want.

Let me know what you find out. I've been wanting the same exact piece. If Place Racing sells just that part then I'll get it.

I heard back from Place Racing on this...

My question:

Hi there. I'm curious if it is possible to order replacement parts for the
CAI in the 95-99 Maxima. I would want the piece in the attached pic.
Please let me know if it is possible to get a replacement and what the cost
would be shipped to Boston, MA.
Thank you.

Response:

You sure can order that part separately, it is the upper tube, but there are
two applications: CAI15B is for the 95-96 Maxima, and CAI16B is for the
97-99 Maxima. Both of these are $67.23 (This price is good till end of
December...we have a 3% price increase scheduled in January) This price is
for the Red, Blue, and Yellow upper tube, Silver is $70.23....but I see that
you have a black tube...so we can supply the replacement tube unfinished and
you can coat it in the desired color, that would be $65.23

So...
I'm not sure it's worth the $67 to me. Maybe with some extra cash after Xmas, but also note the price INCREASE...
If you're thinking about the CAI, might want to order before end of the year.

some of your fellow Bostonians

did this about three years ago. I recall that they paid around $90 back then. I regret not keeping this piece when I sold the CAI. I figured I would have had trouble selling without it. I miss the clean look of the PR top piece. The stock resonator thingy is ugly. Yeah, it's all about looks

I think I might order one. If you organize a group deal, even better.

I've had that same intake since may of 99....

I had a 95 MAX with the PR CIA. I got a 98 MAX and just wanted to get rid of the reonator on the intake, so I used the upper tupe from the CAI and just cut a big hole in my airbox( the side that faces the fender). Yes, a 95 CAI on a 98(only the upper tube). I did a dyno with this and a Stillen muffler and put down 165hp and 180 TQ. Never dyno totaly stock though.Plus I have ran at the track the same night with and without the resonator and the times were no differance. I have been racing for three years now so I know I am very consistant and know my car, I would have seen any changes. It does sound good though!!!!!!!
