help: Lowered car on alignment rack

ive been trying to get my free alignment from sears since im on the 6 month warranty from when i got an alignment after my drop in march.
yesterday they couldnt do it because of my lip, so i took it off.
today they STILL cant put my car on the rack because its low. BUT it was done in march when i just got lowered!! maybe my car has settled so its a bit lower. they sent me to sears all over the place so ive been driving around everywhere! but finally i got my money back.

QUESTION where do we lowered drivers go for alignments?
erik (tifosiv122) has suggested pepboys, and sts.
what do YOU do? thanks

I think it all depends on where you live, not where you go. It's the genre of people around there - they either like your car or not. I've taken it to Sears for a tire replacement and they didn't hassle me at all. Neither does Firestone. As a matter of fact the Firestone guy reccommended I buy the lifetime alignments because lowered cars should have them every 6 months or so.

when i had my sentra lowered with a kit, i couldnt go anywhere. finally i found a place that did only porches, and since those are quite low to begin with, they had a different machine than everyone else did. so try to find a place that caters to european sports cars, or hi performance cars in general.

They probably didn't want to do it. I went to a alignment shop in Mass when I lived there that did all the alignments for a Nissan Dealership. I had Sprints on. All he did was use some small pieces of wood as 'mini ramps' to get me on. If a shop can do a Z car they they can do a lowered max. Those cars are lower. A Nissan place can do it, but they will probably claim that they can't get it back to spec since you have aftermarket springs

Um... well that description doesn't help a lot But I can tell you it was the kind with two bars that go across the car, right inbetween the wheels. A lot of people have issues with these jack points bending, but it's the only way they I know of that they can do it.

if sears werent such WUSSES i would have it done by now im sure my car woulda done fine.
ill try any place that wont be such bit¢hes about liability.

well the ramps they had are one for each side of the car and then the two jacks (one in front one in back) that go across and stick up high that it almost touches the car (or might actually touch and damage)
i guess thats the only kind?

I think that they need some type of adapter piece to do larger than 17" rims. I remember when I got mine, the guy was cool and let me watch. They align the car by using a laser that bounces off these plates that are sticking out of each tire. Picture a stop sign with an adjustable arm on it. I don't understand why 18" and over makes a different.

They put my car on a drive up ramp IIRC. The only problems is that we didn't want to scrape. That should be the only problem. They can get a car with sprints almost exactly to OEM spec. If a shop can't do it, they either suck, don't have the technology to do it, or don't want to deal with it.

You'll find a place. Try and find a place that does euro's. My friend had a 330 ci with H&R race springs and there was only one place in like a 50 mile radius that could do the alignment.

Are you guys having problems finding places all using Progress or Sprint? Any experience with the Eibach and H&R sport drops?

just find a place w/ a hunter alignment rack..it's a red lift. look for extended ramps going up the rack...if not ask if they have some ply wood to help u go up the ramp.
the axle jacks are there to lift the car to set up the sensors.

the jacks are or arent the problem, depends what kind of jack and how much they stick out over the top. the othter thing is getting stuck on where the ramp sticks out less than an inch over the actual rack.
the shops are just being scaredy cats and it ****es me off.
