I30 Krab gets Front Ended by a Semi

Here I am today pulling up to a stop sign behind a 50 ft semi rig waiting to make a left turn. The semi driver pulls up into the intersection to turn and then there is a delay and I'm wandering what the hell is going on?? The next thing I know, the semi is BACKING up right into the front of my car. I honk my horn but of course he can't see or hear me. Finally after shoving my car back 6 feet, the truck stops and starts to move forward again and I jumped out of the car and ran to the cab and pounded on his door. He had no idea what happened and didn't believe he hit me. When he walked back and saw my car and an eye witness told him he did indeed hit me he was very upset and apologized profusely! I called the cops and he got a ticket for improper backing which is a moving violation in NV. Here is a rough estimate of the damage: smashed hood, broken headlights, smashed bumper cover, pushed in radiator and support bar, and assorted other damage. This doesn't include any hidden damage and the labor will be high because of the custom work on my hood vents and front bumper. thankfully there seems to be no damage to my newly built engine but I will have them pay to remove the SC and send it in to Vortech and make sure it isn't damaged and make sure the pulleys aren't damage and line up correctly. The only good part of this is I needed a front end paint job.
Also, since the car will be at the body shop I'm having them raise the passenger side floor board to make room for my exhaust cut out and pipe which will dump near the rear door.

About the max, that really sucks.. I guess its got its good sides though, like the paint, or maybe even a new SC

Wow, I'm sorry to hear about it...I once had a huge utility truck back up on me and squeeze me as far as possible back against a big pile of gravel, and luckily at that point he stopped. In rare situations, sometimes you just can't get out of the way fast enough in cases like that.

I hope you're ok.

I once did the same thing to a Cavalier while driving a cube van. He was perfectly behind me and only 1 foot away from my bumper. I couldn't see him, backed up 2 feet (heard the honk). Poor guy. He was insured and it was my fault and I was driving a rental so it didn't affect me.
I now always make sure I'm slightly on the side so that I can see their side view mirrors so they can see me. I know if that Cavalier had been slightly over on either side I would have seen him. I also make sure I leave at least a car length in front of me.
Sorry to hear about your damages. Good luck!

I ****ing HATE truck drivers. About three months ago I was driving my mom's 2001 Suburban with both parents in the car when a huge UHaul sized commercial truck changed lanes right into the front end of the suburban with me driving it!! Needless to say, when your almost 16 and driving with your permit getting in an accident is scary as hell! He got cited for 'illegal lane change' but the cop never cited him for 'leaving the scene of an accident' even though I held the horn of the suburban and pulled off the road. My parents both then screemed at me to go after him so i quickly checked and floored it to 70mph in a 45 to catch him, we told him to pull off but he didn't understand and just continued on. When getting hit by those kinds of trucks there is more damage then you'd expect 'i30krab' you should take it into a good body shop. The suburban didn't look to bad but in fact we had to replace the hood, fender, mirror, and get work done to the quarter-panel. I hope everything runs smoothly for you.
