Turning a tire to balance it..what does that mean?

I just got back from my tire shop..they rebalnced my front 2 tires. They said they had to "turn" one of the tires.

I thought nothing of it...until about 10 minutes later on the way home.

What does this mean?

I thought it meant that they took the tire off the rim, rotate it 180 degrees and put it back on...

See I heard about the shaving thing..did not know what it is called.

And I also heard from redmaxpa007 that it means turning the tire 180 degrees

I may just call the to see what they did.

My steering does not vibrate at 80 anymore

A lot of times people don't even need to have a tire balanced, thye just need to make sure the wheel is seated properly on the hub when locked down.

when you say hub.. do you mean the rim? or do you mean the "hub" where it connects to the car?

sorry to ask , just need clarification.. I torqued the wheel down a month ago when I rotated the tires...

that is when I got the shake in the steering wheel. I just thought 1 of my tires needed to be balanced
