Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. I've always been a fan of the VQ engine but never had the chance to drive one. Well today I stopped by a local dealer and took out an Altima 3.5 SE 5sp. Holy bageezbuz. That car is FAST. I know I know, the *255hp* Maxima is way way faster, but man this Altima was fast. Its was like night and day compared to my auto vg(160hp plus a few mods). I took an easy turn at about 15mph with the car in 4th, and just moderately rested my foot on the gas. Silently and strongly it pulled up to 60 until I let off. I'm so impressed witht that setup.

And I did go at about 3/4 throttle in 2nd and I felt NO steering pull.

Now if one I could get a 3.5VQ in a 3rd gen body.

 

I can do a better swap than that for alot cheaper .

That's what you get with ~+100hp at the crank when compared to our VGs. 15mph in 4th?!? Wow.

I just think you should buy the damn thing already - you've been waiting too long.

I'll be taking a test-drive of the Max/Altima soon enough, but I'm also thinking of another car.
