Another 5th Gen Auto S/C Tranny goes KABOOOOOM~!

Well after only having the supercharger for about 3 months, I pulled out of a friends shop after installing my new coilovers and the car shifted really hard. I didn't think anything of it and then when I came to a red light the car wouldn't go, and then it went finally. Gradually on the test drive for the suspension it got worst. I eventually totally lost 1st gear and reverse and 2nd gear wasn't looking too good either! It was slipping in all of the gears. The fluid looked fine and there wasn't any metal shaving in the tranny casing. But it is a goner!! I am already in the works of getting a Level 10 full rebuild, and New Torque Converter! This really sucks though I thought that it would have lasted a little bit longer than this!!!!!

Also I had the following mods to the tranny: VB mod, tranny cooler, updated TCM, updated shift solenoid, and synthetic fluid.

Just out of curiosity...Do you have a tranny cooler? A VB mod? How often do you flush the ATF? Nevermind You have everything needed. Good luck on the rebuild.

Mine went kaboom without the SC, and I dont' think it's the fluid problem (too hot, etc) cuz mine looked fine (redish) when the tranny decided to go neutral from 2nd to 3rd gears. I had updated TCM, solenoid done also..it's Nissan's Auto tranny!(SUX BIG TIME)

Blake, sorry to hear about your tranny. It's kind of odd though. 5th gen auto tranny supposed to be stronger than the 4th gen. I have no problem with my tranny so far. And anyone who knows me know that I push the car pretty hard too. I'm thinking your tranny was on its way out before you put on the SC. It was just a matter of time. All I have to protect the tranny is the VB mod, tranny cooler, and synthetic ATF.

I have not seen you push that car ever since I met you so why would your auto tranny go so soon?

Remember all those things you told me about your car? and how you decided to get a 5th gen. Try a 5 speed conversion. Youll enjoy that SCer and the ZEX a whole lot better. At least once in a while you can take it on that strip since you live so close to it. I wish I had a drag strip five mins away from my house like you do. And its a good drag strip even if those 10sec country folks wax that azzzz.

What about getting the Maxximum Tuning transmission? Level10 has a bad reputation since the new management. I'm considering the Maxximum Tuning rebuild in case my auto tranny fails. I'd do a 5-spd swap, but install charges would be too much .

Wow! I guess the tranny just decided to crap out all of a sudden.

So what's the plan? Rebuild auto or manual swap? I have a spare auto tranny if you need it.

Sounds fishy?!?!?

How long did you leave your car at the shop?

I'm wondering if somebody didn't go out for a "joy ride", since there wasn't any problems before hand.
