Thus, on the highway no car is going to walk the other. In essence it is a drivers race. The best 0-100 for the 740 was 16.5 to the LS's 16.7 IIRC. IMO mag times are more valid than a computer based program.

But you were SO SURE before. J...you were simply basing your assumptions on something that you supposedly read 3 freaking years ago....Steve and I are basing our assumptions on FACTS and PHYSICS.

Come on now....Thats Edmunds.com. Every comparison test done between the cars, the 740i owned the competition in braking and handling. BTW the number to look at is SLALOM, not skidpad.

Everyone is basing this arguement on assumptions. The fact is that the 7 IS tenths faster, so my statment is technically true.

I'll definately make it down next time you host a party. I probably won't be getting this mystery ride until march. So I'll still be *rollin'* in my maxibus 'till then.
Make sure you invite Mert again, that guy was awesome!
I've looked at the new W8, but I just don't have the Ben Franklins to set up a deal on that baby. There's a big auto show coming to Birmingham in a couple weeks so I might be able to strike a deal there.
I was actually at a Toyota dealership yesterday looking at those new Matrix XRS's and did you know they have a 9000rpm redline!
They're nice but again way to small for me.
Later-
Jeff Catt

yeah I saw a black matrix yesterday with some good looking black rims.. not a bad looking car to me.

well next party I host you'll know about.. and my "friends" will be there unless the situation warrants them to be somewhere else.

but I am glad you and your dad had a good time... and I will let you win Gran. T. 3

I re-ran the 740i in the 70mph roll-on test with the 3.15 gears. Less than 5/100th's of a difference at both 1/2 mile and 1 mile...it's pretty much drag limited, and the 3.15's don't really make all that much of a difference. The Lex with the lighter weight and lower drag coefficient still beats the 740i in highway drags.

Oops, you forgot that that mag results (even in online form) are invalid on maxima.org. Remember that 6.6 seconds from 0-60mph done by MT(?)back in '95/'96? Complete BS.

Leave it to the unbiased Maxima pros!

the m3's with the SMG tranny are having alot of problems........because you can launch them (holding the stick all the way up will disengage the clutch).......i'm not too sure about the manual one though............if you wanna save money, go for an altima......if you got the green go for a GS400 or the 7 series (i'd go for the GS if it was my green)

What??? Are you saying that stock maxima 5-speed can't got 0-60 in 6.6 seconds???? If you are....you're on crack...my bolt-on 97 5-speed does it in 5.7...not that 0-60 really means anything in the real world...
