Dealerships are scum!

Ok I took my max for a front brake job to the Gwinnett place Nissan here in Atlanta.
I had coupon for $99 for front brake service, and I handed it to the service adviser.
The guy wasn¡¯t too thrilled to see the coupon on his hand¡¦
Anyway, the service adviser called me after 5 hrs and quoted me $550 for a front brake job. (F**K that)
The service included 2 new rotors and a set of brake pads installed¡¦ all for $550 plus tax.
Haha¡¦ should I laugh or cry?
I measured the rotors and guess what the rotors are indeed FINE!
All I need was $40 OEM pads and I¡¯m sure I could do it in less than an hour.
What the heck is wrong with Nissan dealership today?

Don't new factory rotors list for less than $100 dollars each?

common dealership strategy....they handed out big discount coupon and then once u r there....they told u that this needs to be done and that needs to be fixed. Basically they do even do any inspection, just pulled ur file out of their computer and see how many scheduled maintenance u've missed and "assume" that u need repair on this and that.

tell him that u have no money for his 550 brake job and just stick to the original plan.

Things like this will hurt Nissan in the long run.
Experiences like this will come up next time when I shop for a new car.

Here¡¯s what they quoted me:

$ 112 x 2 rotors = 224
$ 99 = Front pads
$ 180 = Labor
$ some environmental scum fee + some small parts that I don¡¯t need.

Total: $550 even + tax

Haha! I brought the oem pads for $40 and installed it myself in less than an hour and saved $510+tax.
Guys, don¡¯t let them rip you off! The rotors were fine and all I need was a set of new pad.

What makes me sick was that they told me the rotors were out of spec and I need to replace it immediately and refused to perform further service on my max.
They also broke the one wheel bolt to prevent me from driving off the dealership lot.
After 20mins of arguing they finally agreed it was indeed their fault.
The funny thing was I measured it, and it had 60%+ life remaining.

F**k the Gwinnett place Nissan!
Screw the dishonest dealerships!

P.S. pardon my F word. I couldn¡¯t help it.

$180.00 for labor. That is insane! It's not like they are cutting the rotors on the car or anything. Just an straight R&R-

For the MILLIONTH TIME:

ALL DEALERSHIPS ARE LIKE THIS, NOT JUST NISSAN DEALERSHIPS.

Move on with your life now. Do the work yourself...brake jobs are cake. If you fear dirt or are hopelessly unable to do anything in basic car maintenance mechanics, then take your car to a local mechanic. If you want OEM parts, order them through Courtesy Nissan or the other dealerships that offer discounts to the ORG. I recommend OEM parts for brakes if you want the least amount of noise.

Yes, I got OEM pad by myself and it works flawlessly!
I know most dealerships rip you off in some ways not just NISSAN but oh boy~ lesson learned again.

Gwinnett Place Nissan sucks, it's where I bought my car. This was back when it was Boomershine Nissan. We actually got into this huge fight with a sales manager. Everything was taken care of and the salesman had the papers ready and everything when the sales manager comes out screaming because we didn't want to finance the car. Something about we were screwing him by paying for the car in full and not letting them make their money on financing. After like an hour of arguing, he caved in and let it go. Then about 8 months later, the car had some nasty rattles. I made an appointment to get it checked out under warranty. I showed up, they said I never made an appointment. I did this again, once again they said I had no appointment. 2 months later I finally got in to have it looked at. The car was now 60 miles over the 12K bumper to bumper warranty and I was charged like $75 for the inspection where of course they found nothing wrong. This was before I realized that all the rattles and weird noises were just a part of the Nissan build quality.

Then they changed the name to Gwinnett Place due to ownership change, but all the employees were still the same. I've been there a few times sicne then for parts and every time I've been treated like crap.

Dodge was just as bad when I had my intrepid. They had a recall on some part that was supposed to rust over time and hada recall on it. So I go in and find out the previous owner did not do any recalls and had like 5 or 6 other things done since it was under the recall.

I go in like a day later to get my car and they hand me a estimate for what needs to be done before I leave. They had like brake jobs, strut damage, axles messed up, lots of random crap that was never an issue. To be on the safe side I went to two seperate friends of my fathers who owned shops and did not tell them what either said just the dealer. They found no problems what-so ever.

So I filed the paperwork the two seperate places gave me and what the dealer gave me to makea complaint with the BBB.

MDr, you're fooling yourself if you think other-brand dealerships
aren't like this. Don't snub Nissan, just snub the crooked shops.
Do the work on your own and you don't have to worry about it. Find
a place that your friends recommend and that you can trust if you
must take your car in.

BTW, you don't have to have your car serviced at the dealership you
bought from. Buy from the dealer with the best offer and get service
from the dealer with the best service. They may be one in the same
but chances are they won't be.

Cheers,

JK

my friend changed his rotor with a few wrenches and a jack and it took him like a good 45 minutes for both wheels.

these guys have special tools and a freaking car jacker thingy (lol), it shouldn't take them more than half an hour to change both rotors, parts aren't that expensive and labor shouldn't be that much either. Can you say "trying to get back the money they will lose from coupon? "

My car is scheduled to go to the dealer on Tuesday for the recall on the Alternator, hopefully there will be no annoyances then like trying to add on extra things.

It's all about the $$$$ I've been around ...and they are all the same. You have to really look out for yourself. One statement one guy said on here was to buy the parts from Courtesy Nissan...great idea...then if you can't do the work yourself, bring to a very good local mechanic..the best idea !!!!

YUP F*CK GWINNETTE PLACE NISSAN
some idiot at Nissan F*CKING stole my sidemarker light bulbs while at the service dept. for 2 days and I had to pay$65.00
When the service advisor first called me, he said the technician spent 2 hours to try to figure out what the problem was. ( i told them sidemarker is not lighting up). He told me the problem (after 2 hrs checking) was that my bulbs simply went out. I was so F*cking ****ed off, I skipped school and went straight to the dealership. I got there and saw a techinician working on my car, so I waited by the door for the tech.
I asked the tech what was wrong with my sidemarkers.
he said light bulbs were missing when he took the sidemarkers off and the f*cking service advisor told me it took the tech 2 hrs to figure out the problem ...............
DON'T EVER GO TO GWINNETTE PLACE NISSAN, cuz they F*CKING SUCK

why didn't you tell them what you wanted done, then when the bill came gave them the coupon so they wouldn't pull that crap? i'm sure they would have tried but probably did more when you showed it to them. have your friends or other org members help you do it yourself...you'll learn more about your car and save $$$.
