OBX-R Exhuast Install

I found this SS exhaust on ebay and got it for $240 shipped. On Friday, I saw it sittin' on my front porch when I came home. I spent about two hours on Saturday trying to get the rusted nuts off the cat (no flames necessary) and I decided to take it to a shop. This morning I took over there and left it but now its ready and I'm just waitin to get out of work so I can pick it up and test it out.

Does anyone else have one of these? How do you like it?

So I've had my chance to drive it around for like an hour or so. My first reaction is that the sound of acceleration is way too loud. At cruising speed, there is only a slight hum, and no sound at all during deceleration. The exhaust at idle has the slightest purr. The combination of my Frankencar, Budget Y and now the OBX exhaust are great to listen to at WOT, but I get tired of the droning while driving around town. Maybe it just takes some getting used to.

The look of the 5zigen stainless tip peeking out of the bumper fits snugly in the curve of the oem bumper. Looks good.

Just thought everyone might like to know.

if you're talking about a muffler please refer to it as a muffler not an exhaust, thank you...

I saw it on ebay...

it is the only Mirror Finish Cat Back for the Max. I thought about bidding on it...let us know about the sound quality/ressonance or drone. congrats.

i dont think that the b had a resonator, but it seemed like there were two slim b-pipes already welded together. The piping is 2.5". I just thought it was weird to have a completely stainless catback, since all of the others are AS. Fitment was perfect. If you see one on ebay, snag it, it takes a little getting used to the new sound, but it starts to grow on you.

oh yeah, sorry krbga

the only real drone is during slight to moderate acceleration. WOT and cruising sounds just fine, especially considering it doesnt have a resonator.

no, it sounds pretty much stock, i think that the muffler looks like the apexi ws, so its probably a chambered muffler, which deadens some of the drone that people get with the greddy sp.

ivel-- sorry for the snap back, i just thought that you were rippin on me for bein a ricer, something that pi$$es me off.

Cool, I just installed my obx r exhaust too. My sticks out about 1 inch and half because of my test pipe(I think?). Overall, it sounds great and looks like the greddy SP. Hey slimer, does your look like the greddy SP or different???

i think that we're the only two that have this exhaust. i never heard anyone else talk about it. is it new?

the only beef that i have with it is that it sounds/smells like im running rich. i guess that my ecu has to get used to getting the junk out of the engine quicker.

i should have some pics by this weekend.

Well the MSRP is $599.99 for the catback, so I'm guessing $200 for just the catback and w/o shipping. If its less than $250, buy a bunch and sell em to us!
