Intake Questions: Smallest hose

Hi all,

I want to ask this one simple question (I did search, but could not get something to answer my Q):

For those who are familiar with our intakes, what is the function of that small hose (the one that is less than .25 inch in diameter)?

I know that there are three hoses coming from the acordeon/mid-pipe section...one is for the crankcase, another one hooks up to exhaust recirculation, and the third one (that smallest one) to....????

Appreciate your help and time!

Armand

Ohh....a wild guess....is that smallest hose for the IAC valve?

if it is......what's the harm of disconnecting it from the midpipe/acordeon section (so it's just loose in the air)?

Why leave it loose as compared to connecting it?

It is connected.

..but my friend just bought one for his 96 Prelude and the piping does not have the pipe outlet for the smallest hose.

He asked me whether leaving it "just like that" i.e. disconnected from the intake piping will do any harm.

My reply was:"I believe it's got something to do with your idle...and you should return it and get the correct piping....".

But I might be wrong here....
