Yesterday I did end up running a 14.80@97mph w/2.30 60' with the VI working. I was running a modifed version of the stock airbox at the time too. There are some valid reasons for the poor performance, but I'm not going to post them here because I'll just end up sounding like Russ Check the Midwest section if your interested.

Dave

since reading your thread I will let you know the weather of my runs. My quickest run came when it was around 55 degrees and 75% humidity although weather said 82% it didn't feel that bad. Baro pressure was at 30.14 and falling according to weather channel b/c I checked before we left. I hope to go back once my y pipe and b pipe is installed. I have 2 more weeks to try to make it back.

I guess "owned" depends on the race. Are we talking from a stop with slicks or from any kind of roll

Well my traps were right there with yours off slicks so it would be close. I raced BJJ which was trapping 99 with a 2.4 60' and I actually pulled a tad until my dreaded 3rd gear which he happened to walk about a car length on me but once I got to around 5k in 3rd it evened back out. Results got beat by a little over a car length with him spraying and its also on video . We both had a passenger and I had about 80lbs of equipment in my trunk. We also raced n/a vs n/a caught on video and it wasn't to close. From a stop I think I would over take you from all my low end. From a roll it would be very close but I see getting pulled on in my 2000 rpm dead spot in 3rd. Any comments will be accepted

Can't we all just get along? You bring up a good point though. The fastest 4th Gens in the Midwest that I know of, BriGuyMax and Nealoc187 trap at 97 mph with good conditions. Brian ran a 2.1 60' on street tires on the 14.3@97 run. I think that BluByu2k2's car would slightly pull on a fully modded VI equipped 4th gen very slightly. Gotta give credit to a auto that runs in the 13's N/A

Get along??? F-that j/k

You do have to give a lot of credit to an auto that can run 13s...even with slicks. You've also got to give credit to anyone that's going low 14s/high 13s in a NA Maxima regardless of year.

IMO, I don't think I'd get pulled on by blubyu2k2 from any kind of roll. That's just my opinion. I've driven the 2k2 autos (stock) and they are stout to about the top of 2nd and then acceleration falls off a bit. In my car, the fun really doesn't start until the top of 2nd gear (60+mph). The 3rd gear acceleration (65mph to nearly 100mph) with the VIM is pretty insane. At the track last Sunday there was a 02 GT 5 speed with an X-pipe, mufflers, CAI, and pullies running consistent 14.2@98mph with 2.2 60'. His friend could only muster 14.5s in his 99 GT. The 02 ran 98mph and I got nearly 97mph (I was accidently short shifting the VIM beause my shift light was incorrectly setup for 6100rpms AND I was running the stock airbox).

I plan on going to the track this coming Sunday for one last attempt for the year.

My best trap ever is 98.4, that was on slicks. Who know's what it would be on street tires in good weather conditions. The trap speed of 97.2 on my 13.99 run was my lowest of the day. It's said that slicks tend to lower your trap speeds but I've never made runs back to back with slicks vs. street tires to prove or disprove this theory. And the tracks I've run with slicks are not the same tracks as I've run with street tires.

Brian always gets me confused.....He is always talking about how his car is right there with yours, so I assumed you guys trapped the same.

Well on the highway we are like dead even, maybe with him pulling a few inches. But because I get out of the hole harder than he does, I have more speed built up in the first part of the 1/4, I don't have to accelerate as hard as his car does to get up to 97.2mph in the 1/4 mile distance. So at the end I'd venture to say his car is accelerating just as hard as mine is, or hard, even though I might have a higher trap speed. If we went farther, I think he'd overtake me.

Do any of you think you can run high 13s with just street tires? Or is it not possible without the aid of slicks? NA of course. That would be awesome if someone can do it.

I think it would take at least a 99 trap to hit 13's without slicks and a 2.1X 60'. I think my car is capable of lower 14.2's when the cars cool and I call pull a decent 60'. My 14.33 run had a crap 2.23 60' if I would have had a 2.1x 60' I feel 14.2's would be no problem.

his traps were like 95 i believe. On street tires its just not going to happen. I nmy eyes a 99 trap with a 2.1x 60' might get you there.

very possible for a manual with slicks. nealoc did it when he ran his 13 sec pass. I pulled a 2.03 with an auto with quite a bit of wheels spin b/c i didn't do a burn out.

My best 60' time is a 1.960. This is with a 30,000 mile stock clutch failing on hard launches. Unfortunately on that run I hit the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd, and ended up with a 14.04 ET. I have no doubt someone such as BriGuyMax could pull a 1.8x with my slicks, his Quaife ATB LSD and ACT clutch. I can't wait for a decent clutch to rip off some 1.8 60's.

My first run of the night I though I broke at 1/2 track. I had to get pushed back from the 1/8 mile mark which was embarrising as hell. I though I lost my MAF but actually my midpipe came loose from the MAF adapter which was stalling the car . After that it was all hisory.
Mods are a frankencar intake and UDP. Ohhhh and I'm an auto too
We need to get you to run a 2k2 6spd from a roll and see whats up. Just to compare power. Congrats on an amazing time. How bad was your wheel hop?

I ran SR20DEN and he had about 1 car length on me from 30-110. My 3rd gear is too tall to run with a 2k2 6 spd. 1st and 2nd are a very close match.
