Noise Isolation

I just got a 2002 Maxima GLE one month ago. Brand new, 60 miles only, with leather seat, Bose Audio, climate control, Sunroof, I loved it!

Thanks for all members here, you got me into it ..... haha ... powerful car indeed.

While I am enjoying it so much, there is one thing, one tiny thing, I would like to start a thread for all discussion ...... The Noise isolation.

Nissan Maxima is really a powerful car, yet the wind blow, tire bumping noise is sometimes a little annoying to me.

I search all forums, this Noise Isolation topic is rarely touched. Therefore, I would like to ask all Maxima experts to raise your voice, tout your experience, show us the ways to reduce noise ....

I know 2002 Maxima comes with bad tires, the Bridgestone sucks, I will definitely replace them with Yokohoma tires once they worn out ..... But for the wind blow, or Is there any other things that we could do to give our Maxima driving a more quiet enjoyment ?

Have you test drive a Camery ? It's much quiet than Maxima ......

Thanks for replies .....

Actually, noise isolation has been discussed many times. The best way to go is to get sound deadening material... dynamat, e-dead, balh blah blah, there are quite a few out there. I have done this in my 89 celica (trust me, after yaers of abuse, it started rattling). Then when I had my uber sound system installed in it, I lined the car completely w/ dynamat and OMG what a difference!!!! YOU COULD NOT EVEN HEAR THE MUSIC FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR UNLESS THE WINDOW WAS DOWN... and vice versa, no sound from the outside!

The first thing to do is to line the inside of the door w/ dynamat... You will definately notice a difference. I hella want to do it to my 4th gen maxima because i know it works.

I'm in L.A and I can get you better material (Raammat). I also offer stereo/sound deadening installation. Please check my homepage so you can get an idea of what I can do.
Thanks
Anton

Re: Anyone use these ?

I've bought a roll of B-quiet before. It worked fairly well and stopped the majority of my trunk rattles, along with a can of sound-deadening spray foam. It's dirty cheap compared to dynamat, and pretty much the same stuff. My only disliking to b-quiet is that:

a) It's messy as hell with the sticky tar based adhesive
b) In really hot weather, the sticky tar based adhesive can come off.

I definately wouldn't use the stuff on your ceilings or anything. Inside of doors maybe .. Floors, definately.

$1000-$10,000 depends how far you want to take it. For example if you paid someone to do your car similar to what I did to mine, it would cost you about $4000 in parts and labor.

NO!!! After I did everything to my car, my bone stock 93 LS400 was still quieter than the Maxima. Now it's even quieter because I sound deadened it as well
It will make a significant difference however.
