Sudz,

You have intake, downpipe and catback with a stock catalyst right? With your 2k muffler, how does it sound when you revv it? I suppose two would sound a little quieter..

I'll probubly check out the resonators first, since that would be cheaper and soo much easier. I am gonna hold sadler to his word.

That is my current setup for now. When you are at idle it is very quiete, When you hit WOT you do really hear it open up and get a deeper tone. Now you said two would be softer... but wouldn't it be a bit louder?

I don't think so...the stock mufflers jobs are to quiet, so two would be quieter then one...remember I only have one muffler now, there is only a pipe runing around my tire well.

Well I mean is it when on the gas or idle your looking for most? It might be very tough finding a system since they can be so dramaticly different.

I LOVE the sound at idle. It sounds soo deep, throaty and intemidating..I mean how many V6's do you hear with a custom flowmasters fakedual exhaust setup? It doesn't sound like a Cobra with exhaust, and it certainly isn't like any 4cyl...for instance i'll be at a gas station and will start her up and people will look over, sometimes with a very confused face, expecting to see a Camaro or something. It's seriously that deep. - It's on the gas that i'm looking to get rid of. Getting going from a stoplight sounds soo beautiful for the first few seconds until I have to bring it above 2k rpms and start getting on it...it's like a totally different car. The tone totally changes into a high pitched almost buzz that is very embarrassing. At idle and in 5th gear at low speeds (30-39mph) is when it sounds incredible.

Can you help me?

Well, I just jacked up my car and took some measurements. I have about 32 inches from the catalyst to the part where the bpipe begins to curve. From there on, I have two spots where I can stick small resonators in (smaller then 11 inches) before the muffler. So I could probubly weld 4 resonators in there safely. Four decent sized resonators between the cat and muffler should cure my ricer woes right?

Hey quit whorin' up my thread fellas. If you were tryin' to help though, I can get really good deals on mufflers. I have connections. I could get two 95-99 Max mufflers for $30 each, or two Porshe 944 mufflers for $50 each. But I really want to avoid getting mufflers, and just throw some resonators on. Much easier and cheaper.

All you need is one decent resonator. Magnaflow makes a couple of nice SS resonators that should work.

I hope your right, that would be a hell of alot easier then banging out my tire well and redoing my whole setup.

You guys think Midas or some chain company could hook me up? I don't want to go back to my "mom and pops" shop, wasn't that good.

midas can hack and weld.. but make sure they know what they are doing and you can watch.. make sure the welds are good and that they check every single spot for leaks before you leave.. and maybe ask someone there if they work on a lot of aftermarket stuff.

and on a sidenote, i don't have a problem making up my mind on mods!!! okay maybe i do have a tiny tiny problem

I can't make up my mind, your right. That's why my name is in my sig.

And yes I adore torque. Please put in a good work for me with KevinG to change my status to something on the topic of me being obsessed with Torque.

Hey! Our cars, in 5spd form, are DAMN torquey in first gear. It's a short gear too. So I already got the torque. Now let's get rid of this POS FWD.

Well, I just got back from the muffler shop. It was either a 2 or 2 1/2 inch wide x 18-20" long glass pack resonator. It did a great job of taking out the rice. My exhaust is significantly quieter at idle and when revved is mellower and deeper. It still gets high pitched (3.0L V6 to thank for that) but there is no tinny rice. Overall I am definatally happy with the results. I went WOT outta the exhaust place and could actually hear my engine again! I'm putting my CAI back in until the supercharger comes...I am soo anxious to hear that CAI hissing again!

BTW, it only cost me $75.

Clarify... you put a 2" resonator in the middle of a 2.5" exhaust system? If it's 2.5" it's all good, just want to make sure...

Weasel, whoops...it has obviously 2.5" inlets....it is 18-20" long and about 3" wide....it has a bunch of fiberglass rivets in it...screw what jeffrey says, glasspacks kick @SS. Yea I know it will wear with time, but it really made my exhaust tame. It's deeper and mellower, and I can hear my intake at wot now! I love it!

haha! with time?! Glasspacks are cheap for a reason. The fiberglass will blow out shortly. Plus I don't think they are that freeflowing. I guess when it's a straight pipe again, they will flow great!

How do you know they will blow out? They are metal rivets, I think they should last a while. And by a while I mean years. I think they will gradually wear over a period of a few years. I know you always mock glasspacks, but they did wonders for my exhaust....[Will Farrel] So suck it! And then after your done suckin', suck on it a little more![/Will Farrel]
