anyway I have always been wondering about these things and if they really work. But they are sure expensive as *****. I guess if I keep this car I should look into this considering I've got cut sprints in the rear and a pretty heavy stereo.

The reason for the mounts is for a better ride AND better handling. They are expensive (~$132 shipped), but they're custon made. They're black powdercoated billet. IMO, they're worth the price.

Chunger do you have your front strut MOUNTS modified from stock. The issue I have is with front wheel travel, not rear. In the rear with my GCs down about 2.5" from stock, I've still got a good 2.5" of travel, with a spring as stiff as the GC, it's not an issue. But in the FRONT, I've got about 1" of travel, and this is with my bumpstop cut to 1/4 of its original size. It's the front of my car that needs suspension travel, not the rear.

I have never been too bothered by the thump of the rear when going over a bump or two. It is the front that concerns me. Going over moderate bumps will send the front end/dash slamming pretty hard. In some cases, it actually seems like the front end is bottoming, especially if I set the Koni's to anything greater than a 3/4 turn stiff. Right now, have them on full soft up front which approximates stock ride but with appreciably diminished float.
The clunking of the rear end would be nice to rid of nonetheless. I can easily see how the mount might improve the ride after all, the shock action is not linear through the entire piston range. I am thinking that the toward the compressed end of the range, the ride suffers.

Mike can only modify Koni setups... It's not like the rear. He doesn't have modified front upper mounts... The strut insert and assembly are modified.
Have you considered getting a longer spring (eg 8" to 9") if your coils are binding? It would cost about $125 for a set of 2 coils.

Not if you can move the lower spring perch lower.
I just swapped in longer springs into my friends DSM because he had coil bind... we went 1" longer with an increase of spring rate from 500 to 550lb/in... He was very happy.

The problem is that if I go with a spring that is longer my car will be that much higher off the ground.

Look, for all you non-believers go ahead and believe what you want. Develop your therories and what not. I'm not a dumb guy and I consider myself pretty knowledgable when it comes to cars. I understand how and why this setup works so well. I know for a fact that everything about the ride in my car has dramatically improved from such a simple suspension modification. Yes, even cruising on a nice smooth rode feels even smoother. I got these mounts to add wheel travel, but I also got a better ride which I wasn't exactly expecting.
