best radar detector

while not maxima specific, i tend to drive alot faster now that i have a maxima,

anyone have any suggestions on a good cheap radar detector, no more than 150 preferably, i live in e.Tn and its kind of mountainous here, so something that will work as i drive over the hills.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

thx

I just ordered a Bel 880. SteVTEC has it. Search and you will find tons of stuff. It has very nice features, including lasor and instant-on detection. It has saved Steve's @ss many times. It's the same thing as the Bel 890 without some of the doo-dads, gadgets and what-not. They MSRP for $179, but can be had for around $144 from local shops. Ebay has them even cheaper. Good luck

I just updated the thread in the Electronics forum. But if you wanna know, get the V1 for sensitivity and range and features. Get the Escort 8500 if you don't want false alarms. I'm keeping the V1 cuz the sensitivity and range are very very very important to me, and I can live with the excessive false alarms (makes me drive slower anyways)

www.radartest.com should give you the range/sensitivity you're looking for. haven't checked in a while, but i think they give msrp too.

save yourself money and do this:

1. Drive fast where you know you can and know the area.
2. Don't drive fast where you don't know the area or can't see where police can sit.
3. Repeat 1 and 2.

ya thats what i do now. I only speed when i can tell there arent any cops hiding anywhere. if i coming over a hill i always slow down , same with rounding a blind corner. but i want a little more security. I have never had a speeding ticket, (my previous car, ford tempo didnt allow it =P ) and i dont want to get one period.

if i were to post this question in other forums, they would say "dont speed" well, they dont have maximas =P, they dont know how easy it is to float down the road at 90 and not feel a single bump or tremor

I'm not too up to date on this brand, but I know that it has been said a ton of times that passive jammers don't work period. If that's what this is, it will suffer the same fate.

There's no such thing as best radar detector for no more than $150. If you want the best get V1.

I would get a V1.

For indash radar, go K40.

For laser, I would go K40 Defuser Plus.

Passport just came out with a unit called the Sr7, which is a remote unit with the internals of the 8500.
