300Z rear caliper is the same for 4th gen Maxima?

I needed a replacement right rear caliper, called autozone, they said $200 for Beck Arnley, I said no, he checked on Z rear calipers, said it was a different brand but for $55, with an $85 core charge. Will the Z rear caliper work? I am not sure which year Z he checked on. He said its the same, I do not know how he knows. Any help appreciated.

nope. it won't. 300ZX has completely different calipers in the rear than 4th gen Maximas.

Juss remember MOST RWD cars will have a different caliper then a FWD car. and no, the 300ZX caliper Z31 or Z32 is different.

Z31 rear rotors are the same thickness, but about 1/2" larger than 4th gen rotors. the calipers might work, but no guarantees on the mounting or parking brake parts of it.

The 4th gen and altima (not sure on the year though) use the same brake pads on the rear so I'm assuming they are the same caliper.

Thanks for the info. I checked at local junkyards, they watned $65, I was like damn, rather spend a little more and order from PartsAmerica.com for newly/remanufactured ones, than risk the used ones going bad.

3rd and 4th gen max and altima all use the same rear pads, but the parking brake cable attaches in a different way to each.. same pad, but completely different calipers..

FYI, 3rd and 4th gen front calipers ARE the same. not sure about the Altima, but the ones on my wife's 97 alty look identical to the stock ones on my 3rd gen. whenever I have the need to work on her brakes, I'll look and find out.

parking brake assembly is different on most RWD cars. most of them use brake shoes. THere are certain advantages of using that type.
