Cool website for anyone planning on building a motor

http://www.bgsoflex.com/auto.html

I stumbled across this website while doing a little research. Might be handy for anyone building a motor for their max, or someone thinking about it

Nice find, but not sure there are too many people that understand all the terms in that site, refering to all the engine parts that is, but none the less nice find.

Neal- When and if you build the vq, will you go with 11:1 pistons? Im just about to order 11:1 JE pistons, but have heard conflicting things about the streetability of 11:1. JE says that they've had no problems with 11:1 on pump (california) gas, but some people have told me that that compression is too high.

I'm not neal, but many cars come stock with 11.0:1 pistons, ready to run on Cali's 91 octane. We should be fine, just keep in mind that head work could possibly change your CR - make sure your builder knows what he's doing.

Yah, I'm getting the heads ported before I get the pistons made. Good to know about the 11:1- makes me feel a lot better.

Buy a 3.5L motor and put your 3.0L heads on it. The result will be ~11.6;1 CR , and the extra displacment will help too.

11.0:1 should be no problem at all with 91+ octane fuel, the new bimer M3 runs 11.4:1 if im not mistaken the type R integra was a bit more 11.5:1 approx. all that means is u wont be using much nitrous if any at all, or boost. if u go with higher compression pistons you better stick with all motor just to be on the safe side of detontation.

Umm... I'm building a vg33e, but the 3.5L is a great idea for the vq guys.
Im feeling good about the 11:1 now, thanks
