im tired of going outside to the storeroom putting together my shop vac , running an extension cord to my car from inside my house every weekend just to vacuum (every friday evening i wash and vaccum my car) . i dont mind doing the shopvac thing once a month , but i want a little handheld to take care of the dirt until i detail my car.what is a good car vac that gets deep into the carpet(rechargeable ,like dustbuster) i know alot of them just dont pick up dirt from carpet that well . what are you guys using . i am gonna get an oreck XL1200 unless you have better recommendations (http://www.oreck.com/small-home-appl...xlauto_vac.cfm)

I don't have a problem using my shop vac, it works great. But if a handheld is needed, perhaps something like an 18v+ Craftsman cordless or something would do the trick. Again, some of my friends say Craftsman is junk and they got the Milwaukee, DeWalt, Bosch, Makita goin' on. But then again, do your skills really measure up to Bob Vila or Norm Abram?

I had to dig up this thread. I ordered that Oreck car vac just before x-mass. Well it was at my front door last night when I got home from work.
Let me tell you guys, this thing $ucks. I mean it really $ucks!!! I can't believe how much power the thing has. Almost feels like my Electrolux
That car vac is a great buy. If anybody is an **** as I am about keeping the inside of your car clean, this is by far the strongest car vac I've come across.

But now, I think I'll order 2 as well. I definitely need something like this in Boston, given all the sand and stuff that comes in during the winter (and other months).
Great heads-up njmaxseltd!
