maxima's are barely ever on magazines!!!!

maximas are gaining so much popularity and there are companies starting to gain intrest on making parts for our cars. How come they are barely ever on car magazines. I was waiting for my springs on being installed and went through atleast 20 car magazines and not one maxima did I see. All civics, preludes, integras, etc... does anyone work for carmags that could get more maxes on carmags?

Getting into mags is not about how well done your car is. It's about who you know.

our cars are luxury sport sedans, not rice rockets. i dont believe they have a mag dedicated to cars over 25k. that would be a nice, a tuner mag for luxury cars and not hondas and such.

It's not so much who you know, though that does help...As what they are looking for, and how you sell the car to them...Send pics, and make them have a reason to put it in, they also do themes so tell them to do a sedan theme then you may get in...But really you gotta have more than a damn intake to get in .

By then, print magazines probably won't exist anymore

I am working with some people I know for a feature in Import Tuner. With the work being done now, they just may deem it worthy.

They get tons of pics and letters daily. What separates you from the big pile boils down to who you know. Take a look at the current issue of Import Tuner for example. Check out the white S2000 in there and take a look at what mods he has. I'm sure you have seen more S2000s out there that are more modded/complete. They even mention that he has stock interior, brakes and ICE in the end of the article. Most of the cars you see being featured from the East coast have affiliation with either ISS Elite http://www.importstreetscene.com/) or Fox Marketing (http://www.foxmarketing.net/). Pay more attention to the stickers being floss by these cars in the magazine. It's like being out in the west coast and being affiliated with LJ Garcia¡¦s Team Wizdom (http://www.urbanasian.com/spot21a.php) or RJ Devera's ART N MOTION or Craig Lieberman's (http://www.moviecarz.com/).

LJ Garcia has ties to Ichibahn and Audiobahn.
RJ Devera has ties to Roja http://www.rojaengineering.com/.
Craig Lieberman has ties to Meguires and Nopi Drag.

I know Brian from fox marketing and I know the photographers from some mags and the head of hot import nights and it really is about who you talk with and can get a break with..

Craig Liberman is worthless for mags, maybe movies, but not mags.. I am sending my stuff to Import Racer because the head of my team contacted them. Them and Import Tuner are lookin the best..

Good luck with Import Racer

According to one of their editors and one of their photographers who were originally interested in my car "The car is too big for Import Racer" "We're looking for racier, smaller cars, like that one" (points to the orange integra parked next to me at the Toyo booth)

They liked the original pics they saw of my car, but then when they saw it in real life realized that it's a big *** car.

I wouldn't underestimate Craig Lieberman. I'm sure if Craig Lieberman calls up any of these editors and personally told them to check out your car. They would aleast check out your car and talk to you.

this may be true.. but your car is blue.. maybe they know that all modded maxima's are blue and mine will shock them.

plus my 19s are bent

tony - who knows really.. i mean, wayne from HIN hates the man and the people at nopi dont have a choice, but nopi does only southeast stuff and you dont see a ton of show cars coming out of there.. HIN is everywhere bringin home the rides..

the guys at import racer heard about my win at HIN and saw my car and wanted to see more of it..

Yes knowing folks helps no doubt...I have meet and know most of the guys at many mags, and most of the time they say simply, it's about what there readers want and have, how cars a presented and what theme they have for that months mag...I too know Brian (he's a car show ***** he meets everybody) , but it still comes down to what you have how you present it and why they should put you in.

I agree totally having the right car makes a big difference. It's nearly impossible for certain cars. ie. Ford Probe, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Corolla, all Hyundai and all Kia. 95% of Import magazine readers drive Integra, Civic or Eclipse. One thing I hate the most is that SCC, Import Tuner and SuperStreet feature the same damn car one or two months apart. I know they are all own by the same parent company but do they all have to feature the same cars?

i know brian fox talks to a lot of people, but the head of my car club is about of team fox marketing and there is a huge in for me..

I actually just sent my photos off to Import Racer for review this morning along with my friend's GTI.. So we'll see how things turn out, there is no chance in hell a maxima would get anywhere without a big nudge from someone, i know. There have been quite a few maximas that are mag worthy but it's really all about networking and who you know, because no one cares about the max's..

the funny thing is i have had a full feature in a mag already, but it's a swedish mag called bilsport and you can't get it here. hopefully frenchie can pick it up for me if he goes over there early, we never got a copy here and are still awaiting them, damn swedes..

I seen so far three Maximas in Magazines, I seen a beige supercharged maxima that I dont think belongs to anyone here, I saw Libermans white maxima which he painted blue and I seen a 2K maxima with large 19s on superstreet a two years ago. I believe if I am not wrong that Kevin the administrators car was featured as well. I am not sure on that but check out his HP, hes got many articles on his car. I spoke to one of the editors Mike shartsis a couple of times and one to two years ago they no longer feature Japaneese vehicles they only feature European vehicles which changed about year and half ago to Eurotuner which to me was the superior magazine and is still is. But if all super street and the other sh*tty magazines just want to feature little POS cars then thats on them. Our cars look beautiful, but if they want to be a bunch of tight a*ses about featuring our cars f*ck em that just makes us more unique. That just my opinion.

SCC, had a cover story on a '00 max they had as a quick project in the past year(I am not sure what issue it was I will have to wait till I get home to see). I think they put a turbo in it(once again I will have to check when I get home). What I do recall is that they didn't get that impresive of gains(must have been running low boost) and also they gave the specs of the VQ30DE instead of the VQ30DE-K.

That was awhile ago they did that, it was the JWT, and Eibach car...The turbo ran 6 psi up to 3500 then switched to 10psi, as I remember they got lots of tq, little hp, and whimpy 1/4 traps. Even they said it wasn't impressive. The felt the stock tranny held it back some.( So they say)/

Sorry it took so long but the issue of SCC was Dec. '00. The guy that posted before me was right about the psi of the turbo. If you look at the engine code they listed it is a VQ30DE, NOT I reapeat NOT a DE-K. They listed the "sTe" at 6.6 to 60(I can do that in my stock 4th gen.) and 14.7@97.3 mph in the 1/4(my best time was 15.1 in my stock 4th gen.). They listed the stock '00 max as 7.4 to 60(BS) and 15.5@91.3 mph. OK, this 1/4 time is feasible for a stock '00 max on a hot day with a hot engine. I have run 15.4 right off the highway on a hot day in my 4th gen. which is why I give no credibility to this article whatsoever. This is why; I have had about the same trap speeds on my faster runs(like I said I have pulled a 15.1 in a stock 4th gen at about the same speed), yes the DE-K pulls harder at high rpm but shouldn't it have AT LEAST a better time at that speed? This is really bothering me. Btw the "sTe" ran a 14.7@97.3mph.
