17s Vs Light weight 18s
Hey,
I have 17 inch Konig Monsoons that are 21 pounds i believe
If I buy light weight 18s, that are about 20 pounds..would that mean acceleration wise my car would be about the same..or would I be slower?

The tires will probably be heavier due to the stiffer sidewalls that you need, and you'll still have more weight at the outside which will give your wheels a higher moment of inertia. May not be a big difference, but it's probably not going to help your overall performance.

Better cornering (tire dependent)? Yes.
Slower straight line performance? Slightly.

If the overall diameter with the 18's and with new tires increases, you will have more tire contacting the pavement creating a larger contact patch than with the 17's, and like SteVTEC said, the moment of intertia will be greater.
I made the assumption that the overall diameter always increases with an increase in wheel size, which isnt always the case.
What tires are you going with? They will play a role in your performance #'s also.

What are my choices, and what would be the diffrence?

What climate do you live in? What will the car be used for?
How much (this is key) do you want to spend?
Etc, etc.
Narrow it down a bit, and then we can help you further.

I have 235/40-WR18's on 18x8's and I can honestly say they offer no performance benefits. But on a Maxima, that's not the reason to get them, it's looks.

more mass further away from the middle of the wheel.. i guess they may slow you down tiny bit compared to those 17s..
but the difference won't be big..
the big difference in looks outweighs the minor difference in weight/performance... by a lot!
17s are even stock on Huyindais now..
I had 17 lb.. 17's and sold them, now i'm going to get some 18s, which are likely a good 7+ lbs heavier, each. I don't mind that much because they look so much better and I don't race, nor do I try to squeeze every bit of performance out of the car.
