i'm going to have like $5K real soon to spend on my 89'GXE's dying engine and auto transmission in about 2 months. i have 3 options that i can see right now.

1. find a 93-94 with the VE, 5spd, leather, and put my digi dash and HUD in that, maybe rebuild or hope that this engine will be good/low mileage.

2. rebuild/swap my engine for a good one and convert to a 5spd.

3. just rebuild/swap my engine and transmission.

i haven't found any real numbers or directions on the 5spd conversion and i've done hours of reading posts so maybe somebody could guestimate if they have any real knowledge. what would be the price difference/problems in getting a used engine compared with rebuilding my current one. anybody have any idea what is involved with swaping my digi dash stuff into another car? your opinions are appreciated and flames for using the search feature will be ignored, i've done this and keep coming up with threads that only flame others never anything useful.

it all depends on how the rest of the car is. Is there lots of rust? How nice of a shape is the interior in? If you are happy with the car except for the motor, i would look into the z32 turbo swap. MaxO/D did a fantastic writeup about what all is needed in the conversion. best of luck to you.
