Realistically, that lease on the 325 will be around 450 dollars (with tax, title, etc factored in) a month, assuming a 36 month lease with no money down. Yes any kid working at the mall can probably make the payments, but can they also afford the gas and insurance?? I know I would have a hard time affording that type of car and I have a pretty decent part time job.

And IMO, the 325 is a joke. Buy a 330i or go look at an Infiniti, Lexus, or Acura.

I know it can be done...but its just plain STUPID. People need to realize that you need to save for a rainy day. My friend's brother keeps buying M3s, Land Rovers, etc and keeps getting them repoed because he cant afford the payments. Its a joke I am sure I could afford a real nice sports car, but it would sit in the driveway most of the time because I wouldnt have money left over to spend doing things I enjoy. Hell. gas is getting expensive

I saw that commercial you were talking about....I think it was a Dodge commercial.

just saw a maxima commercial.. noticed that 2k3 Maxima's are going for $319 .. so technically every 2k3 owner here could have had a 325 instead.. so basicall its just a status thing..

I like Bimmers, but they're all about status now. I like the way they look and drive. They have very nice pretty bullet-proof engines, their electronics suck though! Be prepared for electrical issues. German cars are not exactly famous for electrical reliability. I'd go for a Lexus IS300/SC300 and consider a 2JZ-GTE/Getrag 6 speed swap, or just turbo the 2JZ-GE!

Only thing I don't like about maxes (everyone has pointed this out) is FWD! Too bad we can't do the RB26DETT and Skyline AWD!

How realistic is it that a pizza boy could live at home and buy a BMW? Someone in my office bought a used 540 wagon. Let's just say it's 30 grand USED, with over 50,000 miles.

Yes, there are people that live at home. But no, their part-time job doesn't buy them the car. Their parents do.

Then again, anybody can pose if they lease. 325i @ 299/mo.

What's bogus, the figure that's advertised on TV? You mean to say you can't lease at $299/mo? Or maybe you mean the notion of leasing is bogus?

Because if you put the same downpayment that's required for the $299/mo lease, and finance at 6% for 36 months, your payment on said 325i is $885/mo.

Whats bogus is the figure they advertise for the lease of a 325....They flash the fine print by you real quick at the end. No taxes, title, etc are included in the lease.....So Yes I am saying that you can't lease a 325 for 299 a month assuming a normal 36 month lease.

There are ways you can buy a nice car with a part time job.....Its called a 6 year loan

Speaking of 325i's, my friend got a service loaner BMW 325i (530i sport was being serviced), and we were abusing the **** outta it; we could not get it to do donuts though, it didnt have enough power - and the button placement (window, mirror, etc etc) really sucked. But it drove very nicely, brakes were great, steering was very tight too.

330CI= Slow Crap Car that is So Over Rated, The only good thing about this car is its Suspension, Id rather go buy that new MB Sports Coupe for 25 G'z The Maxima is a Way better Choice, I dont know why BMW slowed down that car, it used to run 15.6 stock in the late 80's/early 90's model, now its a slow crap car that is SUPER OVER RATED, the only good thing from BWM is the 5Series and the M5

The first link you provided me with is a 3 Series History. Nowhere in the article does it say the 330ci is a "slow crap car", or anything of the sort. The second link is a road test of a 1996 BMW 328i, which mentions nothing about the 330ci. I ask you again, do you have any factual information to support your claim? Or is your opinion on the 330ci based solely on hearsay evidence?

It's called sour grapes.

How come so many people are merely concerned with selling price? What about cost-of-ownership? When you look at a BMW's cost-of-ownership it's actually pretty attractive. And by the way, the high price is deliberately designed to be a barrier to entry. It creates something called prestige. Sour grapes doesn't change that.
