Why I hate the word "kill".
#1
Why do people insist on using this word when racing cars within their own specs? For instance : A stock maxima will "kill" a stock prelude or a Type R will "kill" a 2k max.
Most of the the people on this board race cars within specs of the maxima, most...there are some people who race true sports cars and some that race economic sedans but for the most part, max owners race cars in and around the 200hp range. I almost always disregard any claim immediately when it has the word "kill" in it. It means nothing because ultimately there are too many factors to justify using that word when racing a similar car. Driver, temperature of day, km's on car, mods, weight, gear ratio, weight of driver auto/five spd ect....
Most of these supposed "kills" are probably very close races but people just don't want to admit to having a close race with a camry, lude, TL, Type R, IS300 ect....
Sorry to vent but it's insane to think that such and such of a car will kill another car of equal specs.
Just my thoughts,

I don't post kills though, that's my point. Sure I race sometimes when I get the chance if it's safe but I would never say that I killed a car if it was of similar caliber.

why i hate the word "rape"
i was just playing with you 5.0
but i really do hate the word rape to describe "beating" another car. I think it is absolutely awful to compare beating another car to rape. By describing a win during a race as raping another car, it trivializes the actual act of rape, which, for anybody who knows a victim of rape, it is not trivial at all.

Agreed.... instead of using "kill", let's vote on a replacement..
a) removed... read post above...
b) Obliterated
c) violated
d) effaced
e) All of the above...

I guess........
some people just get caught up in the moment! but I'd use the word "kill" myself, if I raced something like a Civic DX or Geo especially if they were "riced out, non-modded slushboxes" and I smoked them terribly, because in my mind if you perpetrate like many of these Riceboys do in the first place, you deserve to get embarrased and ROADKILLED.(but those kills are worthless anyways so i don't post them, and YES I have raced a Geo w/ a 4" tip a couple times!) But I agree with you on the point of these more "high-profile kills"(like with GSRs and Ludes, etc.) since its very doubtful that either car(Max or Lude, etc.) will pull so much harder than the other in a stock for stock race or even lightly modded race!! But remember they're only words, no real biggie.......

BTW, congrats on the time. If you get some slicks and an ecu and you might be the first to break into the 13's...N/A style!

I agree with you guys... let's use the word spanked..
multiple meanings but when ever I hear it in car text, I almost laugh... My friend said told me that once (used to have a 94 Z28 cop edition) "I spanked another cobra today"
I almost pissed my pants when I heard that for the first time...
anyways....

kinda remind me in the good old time we had a debate about whether it's necessary for car to be faster and faster, some member whose nick is luvspeed tried to peach no one needs more than 200hp

Fine fine fine...no more lingo. Form now on the official Maxima.org term for out accerlerating another car shall be:
"out accelerated"
There, now on to more important things, like how many people here like tacos better than burritos...anyone???

That gets me too, why do some people say that they killed their opponents when they only won by let say a car length? A kill is more like this: me vs. a Viper, now that's a kill! Why not just simply say that I beat that car, or I won. And not, "I totally like killed that POS Cobra in my hypersonic, superduper car. I was like at warp 9!"

fine, then if "kill" bothers people, let's just make it nice and easy by replacing it with
"After extensive tests, a definitive conclusion has been reached that my linear tangential acceleration was marginally greater, allowing me to complete said objective in a shorter amount of time."
Better??

Um, your acceleration in a car, in a straight line race isnt really tangential, unless you mean in relation to the whole planet...plus "linear tangential" is redundant, all acceleration is linear, if your going in a curve you have linear acceleration in the tangential and radial directions...but if you yourself are spinning, then you can have rotational acceleration, but every "point" that you are composed of has tangential and radial acceleration on its own. You have to be specific when defining your system.
Sorry, I'm a big geek.

Oh, I wasn't being serious.... I was just tossing words around... Believe it or not, I understood everything you said, (seriously, I've had a bit of physics), and agree....

Silly me... I'll define my system next time...

I like to say that I "walked" the other car. "Kill" is just too harsh a word when we're talking about 14 and 15 second cars. So many people in here haven't had the experience to ride in something that is truely quick and/or fast(10 and 11 second street cars). I always laugh when people say their Honda VTEC or Maxima is "***** fast". If they only knew what real power feels like and what a real "kill" looks like in your rearview (a true 10-15 car lengths in the 1/4 mile).

I've been on the other end way to many times . Most of the time I goto the strip I'm always racing 13 or quicker sec cars. One of my worst losses (its test and tune so it doesn't count ), was I raced a tubed framed old school hotrod (50-60's style). Man he finished the 1/4 before I even hit the 1/8 ! To make things worse I tree'd him too, I had him beat for the first 10 feet. After that it was just watching him run down the strip. That caused me to miss time my 2-3 shift so it killed my trap/ET. Instead of getting a 16.2x @ 82.xmph I ran a 16.312 @ 80.86 (previous run was 16.357 @ 82.25 and all my times on this run were 1 tenth quicker). I think its funny when a car can beat his oponent to the 1320ft before the other person hits the 660ft . But why did it have to be me .
