I want to put a tach on my other car (Jeep) and am curious as to what is involved in that. Thanks.

 

I put a tach on my old car and it was really quite simple. I think it had 4 wires - Power, Light, Ground and signal. The signal wire was spliced into a wire leaving the coil I belive ( it was a few years ago ).

Either way, it came with instructions and was not very difficult. The hardest part was mounting it in the car

Thanks, I guess that was my question, where do the revs get measured from...at the coil? Interesting. I think that will be my next project. Thanks.

 

I think a true tachometer is measured mechanically. Most aftermarket ones are electronically at the coil.
