i'd rather have the extra security than having a cool looking key, but if you must.........is it possible to swap out the ignition with an older one???

put your chipped key in it hide it somewhere. wrap the wire-end of it around the key cylinder. have it power up with the ignition. now you're car is always coded. you can use any key (non-chipped) you want, because when you put the key in to turn on the car, the module will activate and the code will be picked up from your chipped key inside the box.
enjoy.

this isn't any special thing...it's what they use for chipped cars when they install remote starts. you activate remoe start, the signal is sent for a split second to the module, which sends the code to the cylinder. car turns on, and the module shuts off. if you turn on your car manually, then the module never activates because you are using your key. you don't want the ECU to read 2 codes. although the same code, you don't want it to start acting buggy. again, this is for cars that want remote starts and the security of a chipped key.
in your case, you want it to read the code everytime you turn on yoru car because you have a non-chipped key, so i would tap it to the starter or accessory wire (not sure, ask don) so that the module activated every time.
enjoy.

You might able to hack open the old key and extract the chip. Then you can implant the chip into your new key, but I have no idea where you can place it.
I know someone that has these silver ones. I have a blue one myself, and I like it. I do not have a chip in my key so I didn't need to worry bout it. But as Sprint said, you can just put it in your steering column. Let me know if you want these keys. I can get ahold of 10 or so right now.
