Back to back comparison...99 MAxima SE 5-sp VS 02 Maxima GLE Auto

Ehh, im bored, so i figured id throw up a bit of a comparison since i was able to drive a friends 02 GLE Auto yesterday.

02 GLE-
Pros: Interior was nice, takes a little getting used to coming from a 99, seats are great compared to the flat *** 99 seats, gauges and ergonomics were great, everything was where it needed to be, LOVED the memory seats function and the automatic sunroof, doesnt feel as fast as it is

Cons: The tranny was just horrible, i guess im just not used to autos anymore, but i swear, my old cars 4-sp auto was better. Maybe its because its more luxury oriented, but its got some laaaazy downshifts and slushy shifts. Outside still takes some getting used to, had no spoiler, HORRIBLE turning radius (due to 17s and slightly larger body im presuming), feels real boaty and not hunkered down like it looks

All in all, i wouldnt give up my 99 for it, at least not in Auto form, i havent had the oppurtunity to drive the 6sp yet, so i can imagine how that one hauls. Its decieving how quick the Auto was, very impressed. I havent had the opportunity to race it yet, but i think it miiight take me , for some reason, im just not pulling nowhere near the way i should be with my Y-pipe...

I drive both a 98 and 2K3 Max on a daily basis and the two cars are way different. I feel that the 2K3 is more of a luxury car while the 98 is a sports sedan. The 2K3 has some nice features but is not nearly as fun and nimble as my 98. By the way, if my 2K3 was modded and a 6-speed, there would be no doubt that I would go with the 2K3.

Doest the 2k2 and 2k3s go 14.4 seconds stock. I love the features on the 2k3 I would want a 2k3 more than the new 2k4 since the 2k4 is too futuristic for the public right now.

not that quick for an Auto, a 6sp yes...upperish 14s to low 15s for an auto..

Yeah, the 2K4 Max is futuristic, from a different planet i think. Its styling is starting to grow on me just like the original 2K one. I still will not get over the front end though, its hideous...period...

If you feel like your car is slower than it should be...check out the y-pipe flex section by disconnecting it from the cat and shining a flashlight inside. About a year ago, a few other members and I discovered that some y-pipes have a tendency to have the inside of their flex-section collapse choking the engine and robbing valuable HP.

wow thanks, becuase im kinda angered/worried since my best run today at bradenton was only a 15.01 @91.-- mph....very depressing...

If my flex section was messed up, would Budget take the pipe back after its been installed and give me a new one, or would i have to just get a new Flex Section welded on...
