Nooooooooo

I went to the dealership and they dont have anymore fully loaded 6spd's.They only had 2 with no moonroofs. They said they wont even be able to locate one for me. They were trying to sell me a used 02 with 5000miles for 25,500. But it was black and I dont want to own another black car.I also dont like demos. I was looking for silver or majestic blue with black leather fully loaded other then nav for 26K Guess im going to have to go with the Altima. I really wanted this car. What do u guys think should I keep looking for the Max or just get the Altima. But I really wanted the 6spd and nice interior.

i'm sure u'll get what ur looking for if u don't stop looking.. 26k sounds about right.. and just because one dealership tells you they can't locate the car ur looking for doesn't mean that that car isn't somewhere else.. they want you to buy the used one for 25k which is too much for a demo..

I just talked to carsdirect.com and they could get me the car for 26,400 if they can find it within 200 miles from my house. Lets see if they can

dont believe the b/**** they tell you keep on looking until you find what you want not what they want to sell you. Is your money keep that in mind, they have plenty of maximas in the lots nationwide.

Get you an auto, no one needs a 6sp: Who wants to be changing a bunch of gears, especially 6 of them...I had a 95se 5sp for about 3 weeks...Traded it in on a 97se auto...After a day of driving a auto I never will own a 5 or 6 speed again unless it is a real sports car like a vette, or a cobra.......Other than that enjoy your auto so you can hold your girlfriends or wifes hand while you are driving....

Don't give up...

Loaded 6 speeds are definately getting more difficult to find, but don't give up. There are still some out there.
If you really want a 6 speed, don't settle for anything less.

I just drove through a dealership in NH that has 4 loaded 2k2 or 2k3 (didn't stop to look closer)

I know it's in NH so it doesn't help you, but it should indicate there are plenty more closer to NY.

Jugmax, you must be trolling dude. That's just the worst rationale I've ever heard for getting an auto. Gah.

Pretty good rationale to me. I'd rather roll laid back unless I was in some fly sports car. I didn't get the max to haul *** in anyway

Was the manual given to you as a gift? If so, then you are entitled to your opinion. If not, then you are a moron. Test drive? Difference between purchase price and trade-in price? And this is an enthusiasts board so you will find alot of people who desire a manual. Just a heads up.

The VQ has so much torque that you can almost leave the car in 3rd in any traffic. ;-)

I love the 6spd. It will definitely be a keeper, maybe even after the BMW 3 series convertible that I'm lusting after.

There are two "seasons" so to speak for new cars... The first is ending now to end of march so there is not to much pickin's left for people who want a specific package. Come April a new batch of cars will be at the dealers, however they will be equiped mostly with what sold best at the beginning of the 03 model line. I'm sure fully loaded SE's will be included and there will be 6speed ones avail, but act fast as most will be auto. This second "season" ends in October when the 04 models start coming...

Why can't you order a Max with what options you want??? It may take a couple months but it'll be perfect!

Or, it could be because they don't make the 2k3 anymore, and what is on the lot (or on any boats on the way) is it.

The 2004s are supposed to be available today.

no offense bro,
but if you are giving up so quick, you don't really want the car

They should not be that hard to find.
Especially in NY.

I would not pay more than 18k for a 2k2.. regardless of it's milage or options.

I'm actually aiming to pick one up next year for 11-14k

Bro, keep looking for it! I'm pretty sure production has stopped on 03s, so you're left with whatever is on dealers' lots.

If you're in NY, there should be plenty of dealerships, but I'm not sure how many will have what you're looking for. For example, every time I'm down in NYC (live in Boston), all the 02/03 Max's I see are auto, which I guess makes sense cause of the dense traffic around there. As a result, I'd think that Nissan dealerships in NYC and surrounding areas request mostly automatics because that region does not demand 6sp as much as others. This is just a guess, but sounds logical to me.

Also, 26,344 sounds fine. I got mine for $500 less back in Nov. 2002, but I got it in MA, and at that time the 6sp were still available, although already rare. However, since time is running out for you, if you like the car, $26,344 is a good enough price.

Good luck

there is no way he's talking new/leftover/"with no miles"

even 18k doesn't sound right, but I wouldn't pay 26k. That's more than I got my new one for exactly one year ago this month. Get that 26k down to 22k or 23k tops and then take the deal.

First of all I'm 34 years old I'm not no High School kid with his Mom or Dads maxima telling everybody they own it.So I don't mean to ruffle no feathers, but when I was young I wanted a 5sp or whatever. Now I think the older people get the more laid back they are,so I'm gonna take a poll......And Let's Compare...Bottom Line if you drive a max I LUV YA MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I had no luck finding the Max. I went to many dealerships and one even told me I have a better chance seeing jesus skateboard across the showroom floor. Carsdirect.com found 1 in a 200 mile radius ,but it was sold already. So I went ahead and got the Altima (at least im still in the nissan family)

Nice. Considering you tried to get the Max, the 3.5 Alti is a good choice as well.

Enjoy it!

[i].... should I keep looking for the Max or just get the Altima. But I really wanted the 6spd and nice interior. [/B]
When I was looking for a USED Maxima, I knew exactly what color, model, options, milelage, condition and price I wanted. I would not settle for any less. I went to a few dealers, and was told :"No way will you find the one you want. Buy this one!"

I took me 3 months, and I had to drive 300 miles, fly another 800, buy the car, then drive back home 1100 miles. It was worth it. I got what I wanted, and had fun while I was at it.

If the car you want exists in the US, fly there and drive it home. It will be an adventure!

Or have it shipped for 300-1000, depending on where it is.

And you'll be glad you did it later on, when your cruising in your Max and pass a dork in an Altima.

$26k is a whole lot of money to blow on a car you didn't really want or like, if it is possible to get ahold of the one you truly desire. (In marriage, this usually ends in divorce).

If you buy a Altima, you will lose more on re-sale later on than it will cost you to have a Maxima shipped to you now.

Good luck. Send us a pic of your new Max when you get it.
