if it's just the color you want, you could always have your dash pieces painted.

That's the one.. www.evolution-autodesign.com is an affiliate also run by Jeff Kuo (aka Shadow) and sells dash kits.. I do sales for him and I can get your pricing on a gunmetal dash kit if you PM me with year, tranny, and climate control style.

Gun metal trim would look pretty nice! I'd get that instead of the carbon fiber.

My thoughts exactly. I was contemplating getting a used brushed aluminum kit but the light color makes some of the blocky center console buttons (esp. Hazard & Rear Defrost) stick out like a sore thumb. CF looked alright but I don't want to spend the money on my Max which is 6 yrs old now. I recently tripped across Duplicolor's spray paint called "High Performance Wheel Coating" in graphite which might do the trick. It bonds to plastic really well which is great. I'll likely clearcoat it for extra hardness. I'll be painting a test piece of plastic to see how it looks before ripping out my dash & all the other little vents and door pieces, etc.?

Anyone with thoughts on the wheel coating stuff

If done right with muliple coats of paint and just as many clearcoat, I can't see any problems with that other than scratching. Dash kits are usually coated in epoxy which doesn't scratch as easily. Maybe you can get a clearcoat epoxy? I never looked into it.

If it helps any, you can buy the stuff at Wal-Mart. I bought the silver one and it worked very well on some things I needed painted. Very strong, but takes a while to dry.

That black chrome dash kit you have is sweeeet!!! Ahhh...yes, that would be the ideal! Although my heart says "Get it!", my bank account says "Denied". Thanks for the suggestion all the same.

Vyrus: Found my graphite paint! Thx. Now comes the prep work. btw, how long did you let your dash dry? Did you go longer than what the instructions on the can suggests? Did you also paint your side air vent pieces (ones by where the doors are hinged)?

Do you have any pics you could post? I'd love to see them. Did you do all the pieces around the side air vents & door handles, etc? If you have any preppping or painting tips foe me (besides the ones already in te FAQ, that'd be great. Thx.

Here is my armrest and dash:

(the actual color is closer to the armrest... the digital camera picked up a lot of the metallic)

I used Rust-o-leum Midnight Metallic paint and clearcoat.

Sorry bud I didn't paint my dash, rather my old steelies. I let them dry overnight because I had the time, and the paint came out hard and nice. I would recommend you do the same and deal the "somebody-just-broke-into-my-car" look to ensure they are nice and solid when you put them in.
