I am not sure what i want to do with my car..

Well, I am fighting my insurance copmany right now. I got a check in the mail for $2400 to fix the car and to "blend" my paint..

at cost i am looking at about 1200 for parts (if i get a used door and rear panel).. and then 1200 for the rest of the body work and replacing the rear beam (since it is bent)

the rear window spoiler flew off the flatbed while it was being taken to the shop. my inurance company told me i have to use my comprehensive and pay my 100 deductable to get this paid for..

the adjuster showed up and looked at the car without having an estimate done on it. he did all the calculating and then sent me a check. i have 2 shops getting me estimates today and i have to contact my insurance with them so they get that adjuster to redo his claim on my car...

all this is just making me want to part the car out.. get the body work fixed, and maybe sell the car..

i just do not feel like trying to show my car.....

i am venting and pouting....... sigh.............

Sorry to hear this Jeff.....it may take a litle time but be persistent with the insurance company.

You deserve to be compensated adequately for the damages. They cannot pay out a claim amount which will not cover the cost to repair.

Fockers....

Good luck cracka!

Don't panic, your entitled to get your car fixed correctly. Bring it to the body shop you desire, insurance companys cannot tell you where to have it fixed. Let them repair your car professionally with new pannels. Any amount over what you were paid for is submitted to the insurance company by the body shop in the form of a suppliment claim. You simply sign a direction of payment and the insurance company will send a check to the body shop paying for any additional costs involved. The shop will document any additional costs involved for the insurance company. Things like this happen all the time. Again, don't panic, just have the car fixed correctly with new parts. The insurance company will pick up the tab.

I help manage a body shop, we do this all the time.

I agree. Please don't part it out! You've done way too much for that. Maybe it will take a little time to get it all done, but don't do anything rash. And if you insist on this course of action I'll take you out again and pour a few more lagers in you!

They write you a quick check in hopes that you'll take the money and leave it at that.

Get it fixed the way you want, and demand that they pay for it. BTW - Is this your insurance company paying for it, or the guys that hit your car?

Even better, you'll have no problems with Suppliment's to the claim being processed.

Just go to the best body shop in your area. Or dive it down to me and we'll take care of ya.

let Rob fix the car the right way, then tell the insurance company to pay it or they can deal with your Attorney. Don't forget most adjusters are morons

Tell your agent to get off his fat **** and do his job, that is what he is paid for, he doesn't get commissions to be a lazy POS. Jeff you know I work in insurance and I go to bat for my clients everyday with the home office people and that's how results happen, so tell your agent to do his job or I can hook you up with an agent who will do a good job and represent you.

Best Regards,
Ricardo Maltaban

Get it fixed man, you know you want to. You are 100% not at fault, so they have to pay for it.

Don't let them push you around.

Keep fighting Jeff! Get estimates from the best(and most expensive) shops around and fight back on that estimate. They can't make you settle for used parts and "blended" paint. Good Luck

Jeff...

listen to njmaxseltd because he is 100% correct. Have the shops give an estimate for new door, paint etc etc etc. They'll pay it out. You are totally entitled to have the car fixed to the way it was.

that's bull**** man.

insurance MUST cover your repairs.. prove to them this is not a sufficient amount to get it repaired properly. What most people do in these cases is go to the most expensive, high end body shop they can find and get a quote from them.. then get it fixed elsewhere and pocket a lot of $.. but you aren't even getting enough to fix it up right?

i know the feeling of wanting to just part out the car and sell.. My paint was in immaculate condition when I got the car. My rear bumper is now very beat up, lots of new dings, side swipes, dents and scuffs all over f-cking NYC drivers.

When dealing with Insurance companies always keep this in mind;

Insurance companies do what's in their best interest not yours.

You have to hammer them around the clock. It will take time and ALOT of patience to get the job done right. Your max is way to nice to give up on!

take your car to the approved body shop of your insurance company, give that check to them. Insist on using only OEM parts. When they call you that your car is done, make sure you are really happy with repair, otherwise dont sign for it. The deal with ins co approved bodyshops is that their work is guaranteed for the life of your car, they have pre-arranged labor rates, and can squeeze out more money from your ins. company. Just be careful, if you are not happy with the repair, don't accept the car.
If you get any **** from ins co threaten to file a complaint with State Insurance Administration, they are afraid of that.
