Air Flow Meter - HELP PLEASE!

Hello Everone!!

I drive a 1990 Maxima that I am totally in love with!! But the other day it started to have some problems. I will be driving down the road, 65 miles an hour, and the RPM's will fall off. Sometimes it picks back up, sometimes it will completely die. It has always started up again immediately after coming to a stop and turning the key off and on again. When it dies, the service engine light comes on, so I checked the code on the ECM and it cam back 12, which is the air flow meter circit. I think my Air Flow meter is bad, but I dont know exactly how to check it.

Does any one know a way to test it, I have read about Ohming it out or maybe looking at the metal square down the air intake when the car is turned off, I guess it is supposed to glow white hot for cleaning?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, James.

Dude, you should post your questions in the third gen forum. The problem your describing is more likely the speed sensor.
