How on earth are you guys able to do this? I've been trying for the last hour to get that thing off and still can't do it. I don't want to cut up the leather around incase i need to put it back on for any reason. I tried everything from, protected vice grips to wretches, all the way to bare hands with one of them rubber jar opener things. This thing is on there really good. What did you guys use to get it off without destroying it?

I'm sorta trying to become a DIY person. Heh its not really hard to get it off, just twist, but with lots of force and pressure.

Did it

Well, i finally got that sucker off. Now all I need is a shifter that fits. I was gonna put my friends old stock GTI shifter on. but it didn't fit. I think I'll go for the AE stock one. Did someone on the board say they got one for like $50?

Get your levoc shifter from alex for 50 or 55. They are really nice, and then you can make your shifter shorter by wrapping the bottom (right above that cheap plastic thing) with tape a few times, then screw it in. Takes like 2 inches of it,and looks real nice.
