sat in 2k4 SE today
I wasn't interested in driving it though, there was no Swiss Army Watch or Callaway putter. The cabin seemed smaller than the 4th gen, seats were nice, instruments were nice, and this one had a normal moonroof not the vertical one. Very ugly car on the outside though, and the grill was hideous. The list was over 35 if I'm not mistaken, so I don't predict this car to be able to sell many units.
On the other hand, I also sat in the Z, which was great. Find me an Enthusiast model for 28-29 and I could be there in the fall. However, all the ones on the lot were Touring, every one, nothing else.

Your prediction might be wrong. It sure seems to be getting off to a fast start. The sold over 11K units in April. That might be some 2k3's, but I think its mostly 2k4's. I didn't see one 2k3 Max on the lot this morning. They only sold 7K or so Maximas last april.

I think most new cars are really ugly. Usually it takes me a while to get use to the change. I thought the 94-97 was ugly, initially. Took me until 96 to appreciate it. Felt the same way about the 2000 Maxima. Again, took me a little while to get use to it. But all in all, I'm not too particular about the body. I'm all about safety, performance, economy, and haggling price.

Dunno if the salesperson was truthful, but he said NO DISCOUNT on 350Z (sounds right), Murano (iffy), and 2k4 Maxima (hmmm). Remember people were the first on the block to get the 2k Maxima--they got burned so bad it's not funny. They actually sold for 26+ just because they were new body styles. The depreciation turns out to be just like the 95-99 and incentives were also offered. I did like the rims though on the 3.5 SE--245/45-18, too bad they didn't do a 40 or 35-series, but heck, it's FWD anyway. Still got RS-A's 7 model years later, talk about old tire technology!!!!
The shifter was very lanky like our 4th gens--the short throws are nice in the 350Z. Most people here want performance so I hope we see more people from the forum going into the 350Z and not the 2k4 Maxima...I'm not a genius, but if you can get a 350Z above the base model for around 30k, that seems like a great car. heck the new WRX STi is over 31 (but it does 0-60 in 4.9!), and I found out it actually is RWD not FWD in its AWD setup. Just seems like a lot of $$$ for a 4-cyl even though it's 300 hp.
