<p>Hey guys, I finally got the pictures of my custom trunk. On my web
page, the pictures are of my old custom trunk. I did the trunk over the
summer with the help from my girlfriend. Click on the picture to enlarge
them:
<div align="left">
<table border="0" width="697">
<tr>
<td align="center" width="146"><a href="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-1.jpg"><img border="0" src="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-1.jpg" width="137" height="96"></a></td>
<td width="537">Here is a pic of the full view of the trunk. I
didn't like the way these pictures came out, you can't see the blue
neons in the trunk.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="146"><a href="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-2.jpg"><img border="0" src="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-2.jpg" width="137" height="95"></a></td>
<td width="537">This is a picture of the 1.5 farad capacitor and wiring
distribution behind the plexi-glass. I mounted them on a brushed
aluminum background to accent the neons. I also lined the inside
of the box with brushed aluminum to accent the neons, too. On the
left is the cross-over to tune the level of the speakers.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="146"><a href="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-3.jpg"><img border="0" src="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-3.jpg" width="138" height="87"></a></td>
<td width="537">This picture shows both of the amps, one powers the subs
and the other the interiors. Above the box is the 10 disc changer
and the component crossovers for the front speakers.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="146"><a href="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-4.jpg"><img border="0" src="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-4.jpg" width="136" height="97"></a></td>
<td width="537">Another picture of the trunk.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" width="146">
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-5.jpg"><img border="0" src="http://www.redlineautoworks.com/smx/max/max-trnk2001-5.jpg" width="127" height="187"></a></td>
<td width="537">Here shows the trap door where I still have full access to
my spare tire and I am still able to store other small things under
there, like my jack and jumper cables. </td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
<p>I designed the trunk so I could still use it to carry things, but not big
things. I showed a couple people on the board my trunk at the Englishtown
meet, this is one of the reasons why I only ran a 16.5 ¼-mile. The other
is about 500lbs of bondo from the body shop. :smile: </p>
<p> </p>

Nice......

Very nice lookin' install! Did you make the box yourself or was it made by a shop. It looks really cool. An idea to get some pics that will show the neons would be to take a picture without the flash at night. You wouldn't really be able to see the components too well, but the neons would really glow. Just a suggestion. Great looking install though.

Re: Nice......

Thanks,

here is a bad picture of the trunk at night with neons. i got this picture off of my video camera. i hope this helps grab the concept better.

The box is a Q-logic box that it bought. I just blended it into the trunk, in person, you can't really tell it's there. Everything is bolted down, and you can't move anything.

Looks good... I remember seeing it at E-town, too. Have you changed anything since then?

I Know

Chris91se -> I know, i've been busy with work, school and Christmas. I hardly had anytime to do anything.

Botos -> Nah, the trunk is the same. The only thing different is that i got a Greddy cat back, Warpspeed y-pipe and the hi flow cat for Christmas, which i haven't had time to put on yet. :frown:

nice work.

it is beautiful.

you said you done that by yourself? do u have some in-progress picture so that i can learn a trick or two? like how to line up the top of the side wall(where the cap and kenwood amp)to the old trunk so perfectly?

i thought about doing similar thing myself, but i can't think of a way to line up the wall so well, so i gave up to have a system mounted down to the trunk floor instead of mounted it up like yours.

good job man

Thanks,
Well, i do not have any in progress pics, i didn't think of them at the time, i just wanted to get it done. Most of it was trial and error. i used plywood and mounted the amp to it. First i installed the bottom piece of plywood which is about half inch thick.(used to withstand weight) then i mounted the box on top of that. I then started on the side walls. Obviously i took out all the lining in the trunk.(such as carpeting) I made the box and held it against the wall and figured out so way to hold it, i made L-brackets to bolt it to the bottom and pieces of the car you can't see (also, since the wall which includes the box was put in last, it held the side walls in place too.) Everything is bolted from behind except for somethings, or else i would be impossible to put in. I just used black screws which you blended right in with the black carpet so you can't tell. Then I covered the carpet that goes over the back lights with black carpet, so i still got access if i gotta switch any bulbs.

Looks great,

Looks awesome man ... But more importantly, how does it sound? I was going to try something similar and port it into the rear deck. I steered away from bandpass though cause I thought it sounded kinda ****ty. It'd be pretty cool if you turned the box upwards and fired it through the back hehe, It wouldn't look as cool though cause the plexiglass would be in the wrong area =/ ...
